We then made it to Canterlot High School to register for the Battle of the Bands. I can see a lot of tension and anger through everyone. And I knew those Sirens were absorbing all that energy. The girls patiently waited for their turns to perform. About an hour later, their names were called and Twilight and the Rainbooms got up front to sing. They sang this song called "Shake Your Tail." But things... How should I say this lightly? Escalated quickly. First Rarity's coat was being magnetized. Then Pinkie let out a party cannon, causing confetti to blow up, causing some of the girls to gag. Then the spotlight was on Fluttershy. Literally. She ran away from the light, trying to avoid it. Then Rarity's coat got ruined, and she was in tears. I saw the culprits who did it! My gosh, they're sabotaging the performance! Once the song was over I ran up to the stage and asked, "are you girls okay?" Applejack snapped, "no! Everything went wrong and we made fools of ourselves!" Twilight was getting even more stressed. Once we got off the stage I suggested, "come on let's take a breather." We went outside the gymnasium and wandered around the locker room when Twilight accidentally bumped into Flash. The two looked awkwardly at each other. "Sorry Flash," said Twilight, "we really need to stop bumping into each other like this." Flash ignored her and said, "you guys hear something?" I frowned and said, "hey she apologized for bumping into you. Least you could do is acknowledge her apology, Sentry."

"Well look at that, another annoying voice." Flash said arrogantly. "Why are you acting like this?" Twilight asked, "it was one thing to act rude towards Sunset. Why are you being rude to me and Garrett?" Flash breathed in and angrily snapped at Twilight, "yeah. And then you decide to come back here so you can beat me in the Battle of the Bands! I want this, Twilight! And you're trying to take it from me! Some friend." Twilight protested, "but that's not why-"

"Come on Twilight, we got things ta do," said Applejack as the girls attempted to leave. "You really think you're gonna help them?!?!?" Flash laughed in an incredulous and rude manner, "I bet you have no idea what you're even doing!" I then saw Twilight start shedding tears. Well that did it for me. I clenched my fists and snapped, "who the hell do you think you are, you... You self-centered jackass?!?!?" The girls gasped. Flash looked at me in a hostile manner and asked, "what did you just call me, Shimmer?!?!?" I glared at Flash and responded with, "what, are you deaf, stupid, and arrogant? How dare you act that way towards my friend! I mean yeah she has her reasons to not want to talk to you but that doesn't entitle you to be so rude to her, you selfish jackass!" Flash got in my face and warned, "call me jackass one more time, Shimmer. And I'll have you buried next to your dead sister." I rolled my eyes and said, "oh sure, bring my dead sister into this, why don't you? You really are a piece of work, jackass. No wonder Princess Twilight doesn't want to talk to you." That's when Flash punched me square in the face. I then punched Flash back in the face as well. "Yeah, fuck you too!" I snapped, getting ready to fight dirty. But then Twilight and Applejack held me back. "STOP FIGHTING!!! BOTH OF YOU!!!" yelled Twilight. Fluttershy also glared at Flash with that famous stare of hers. Twilight tearfully glared at Flash and said in a cold voice, "I thought you were better than this, Flash. Bringing Sunset into this was uncalled for! Nobody messes with my friends, regardless of what they've done in the past! Garrett was right. You are an asshole. I don't think I ever want to be friends with you again." We then walked away, going outside. "I'm sorry for acting brash and violent, girls..." I apologized, feeling guilty, "I was acting no better than a jerk..."

"We don't agree with the foul language you used," said Rarity. "But we understand your loyalty to Princess Twilight," said Fluttershy. Twilight placed her hand on my shoulder and said, "thanks for defending me, Garrett. I do appreciate it." Hours passed, and the Battle of the Bands raged on, bands beating other bands. Somehow, The Rainbooms made it to the semifinals. "Okay, we made it to the semifinals, now what?" Pinkie asked. "We still can't do the counter spell," said Twilight. "I got it! Let's sing my song!" Dash said, making the girls groan. Fluttershy seemed the most chagrined by this because she really wanted the band to sing one of her songs. But, the band didn't have much of a choice. Besides, it's not like the song could be bad or anything, right? The Rainbooms walked up to the stage, Rainbow started playing her guitar and sang...

I knew I had to do something to ensure The Rainbooms would not advertise any magical attention to The Dazzlings! I quickly grabbed the curtain rope and pulled, the curtains closing on The Rainbooms, stopping the song. I sighed in relief. The audience was confused. Once the song was over, The Rainbooms walked off stage. Rainbow glared at me and asked incredulously, "what the hell, Garrett?!?!? Why'd you close the curtains on us?" I raise my hands in a non-hostile matter and said, "hear me out! I know you're upset, but in my defense, you were showing your magic and starting to Pony Up! And that would have aroused attention from The Dazzlings! Which would be bad! And think of it this way, at least I didn't lunge myself towards you onto the stage." Twilight placed her hand on Dash's shoulder and said, "he has a point, Rainbow Dash. Garrett was just trying to help." Rainbow rolled her eyes, unwilling to kill her ego for a minute. Much later, when announcements on who was to perform at the finale were made, Principal Celestia announced, "the band that will be joining The Dazzlings in tonight's finals... The Rainbooms!" We gasped in surprise. "Oh my gosh, we made it!" Pinkie said excitedly. "Congratulations girls!" I said supportively, despite the fact that everyone in the school was outraged and booing at us. "Thanks Garrett," said Twilight, "I just hope I'll be able to successfully cast this musical counterspell." I wrapped my arm around Twilight and said, "I'm with you to the end, Twilight. We got this together. And ignore those naysayers. They hate us cuz they ain't us!" Rainbow shouted excitedly, "let's do this thing!" But somehow in the pit of my stomach, I had a feeling that something bad was going to happen...
