To quote a certain Marvel superhero, what is grief if not love persevering? I remember first reading A Sunset's Last Sunset by my good friend CharaDemonChild. I liked it enough that I wanted to write a prequel (Sunset's Long Lost Brother) and a follow-up known as The Sunset Redemption, undoing Sunset's tragic death. I never expected us to wind up writing six stories! And this also produced a great friendship between Chara and I. I enjoy collaborating with her every chance I get. I am proud of what I wrote for Sunset Redemption. But sometimes I wonder what would have happened if Sunset remained dead? I knew it would make sense to write a story about Garrett coping with the grief he feels, knowing his sister is gone. Yeah, it basically is another remake to Rainbow Rocks, but a grieving Garrett takes Sunset's place. And the idea that this is a vision of an alternate timeline that Garrett is experiencing in a dream as an alicorn made sense to me. That idea was actually inspired by Doctor Strange seeing 13,000,065 possible outcomes in Avengers Infinity War. The idea of Garrett dreaming these visions would make for a good anthology series. It was actually going to be the main stepping stone for a story that Chara wrote but never finished. You'll see it acknowledged in the story. Anyway, I hope you enjoy reading this novel. And thanks for drawing the cover, Chara! You did a good job
