Millie's POV
As Courtney and I are laughing, one of the girls stopped and glared at us. "Why are you laughing? And why do you wear those stupid purple contacts!? " she yells to me, a hand placed on her hip.
People saying my eye color is fake has always made me feel insecure, and upset me. Many times before I had been bullied about my eye color. The smile once on my face was replaced with a frown, and I ran towards the exit of the hotel. I sprint down the street not caring what's happening behind me.
Why are people so cruel sometimes?
I continue running with my phone getting many message alerts. It buzzes repeatedly in my pocket so I take it out and slam it on the concrete. Then I continue running. I find a bridge and lean against it.
I reach into my pocket and try to find my pills I have in case I have panic attacks.
Dollar bills. And oh my happy little pills. (See what I did there?) (Update: Past self, why are you so cringy?)
I grab a handful and put them in my hand. Then I face the bridge and bring them up to my mouth.
"Stop!" An unfamiliar male voice yells. (Yes Millie Im adding him in)
I turn my head and see a boy about my age with blue eyes and brown hair wearing jeans and i black coat with a blue snapback with Jake on it. He runs towards me and his eyes are wide.
"Please don't do it. Throw them off the bridge." He says immediatley calming me with his voice.
I clutch them in my hand tighter, and look at him, unconvinced.
"Please." His voice showed worry, and I walked towards the edge of the bridge, turning my hand and letting them fall. A sigh of relief was heard from behind me, and someone walked closer. I turn around to face him, and he smiles opening his arms for a friendly hug. We end the hug and I say, "Thank you" I look up at his hat, "Jake.""No, thank you. There's a lot more to live for in life, so don't let people who put you down influence your decisions. At the end of the day, they're not worth it. I'm here for PAX and I saw you and had to help you." He says.
"I'm going to PAX too. I kinda ran away from who I was going with though becuse of some girls. It's hard when ." I say.
"Why don't we go to Pax together and we'll meet who your going with there. And remember, heaters are our motivators. Do you have a phone?" he asks.
"No. I threw it on the ground." I say, laughing slightly at my previous actions.
We walk back to where my phone was and Jake picks it up. Since I have an OtterBox it didn't break.
He hands me my phone and I look at all the notifications I have.
59 messages from Jerome, 86 missed calls from Jerome, 93 messages from Courtney, 49 missed calls from Courtney, 43 calls from Mitch, 51 calls from Vikk, 62 messages from Lachlan, and 103 messages combined from Poofless.
I quickly text them in our group chat we made.
Millie: Guys im fine i met a boy and hes going to Pax too we'll meet u there.
Then, I turn off my phone and Jake and I walk towards Pax hand in hand. I look at his face and almost get lost in his eyes. Suddenly, I snap out of it, chastising myself on the process.
What's happening to me?
