No one's pov/3rd person
Two fresh coffees stood on the table. One untouched, the other tightly clutched and half empty.
"So?"
"So??"
Iwaizumi sighed. "Don't play dumb with me" He wanted explanations. Ever since the training match with Karasuno Oikawa has been acting weird and now... now he is calling a wing spiker from that exact team by a childish nickname."What is going on? Acting all weird lately and now I find you here chatting with 'Sho'"
It's not like Oikawa and Iwaizumi told each other everything, but they did always knew what was going on in the other's life. But lately, that just wasn't the case for Iwaizumi anymore...
Oikawa breathed out and took another sip of his coffee.
"It's a long story...", his eyebrows furrowed and the rim of his coffee cup suddenly seemed very interesting."Actually... It's not that long of a story. It's just hard explaining something you don't fully understand either"
Iwaizumi watched Oikawa closely, trying to catch every hint the other might drop as to where this whole thing might be going."I didn't meet Shō- Hinata at the training match..." and Oikawa began explaining how he met Hinata and how he moved, how he missed, but eventually forgot him, and how he now wanted nothing more but be close to the sunshine-boy.
Iwaizumi listened, not once saying something. Just observing the way Oikawa talked about the younger spiker and how he looked while talking. He remembered Oikawa telling him about a younger boy from time to time back in the days, but nothing more than that. Never would he have imagined that they were this close.
"You really care about him, don't you?" Oikawa looked up. It was the first thing Iwaizumi had said something since Oikawa started explaining.
"Yes. A lot" He stared at Iwaizumi, but dropped his head after a few seconds looking at his hands folded in front of him. "So much more than good for me. And the worst part..." Iwaizumi watched as Oikawa leaned back in his chair, ruffling his hair, dropping his hands in his lap, and cracking a straddled smile "he doesn't remember. Not even a little bit. I guess it's plausible, after all, we were pretty young but..." he let out a sigh.
"You wished for a big reunion?"
"...Kinda..?" Oikawa smiled sheepishly. A rare look. But something even rarer occurred right after.Iwaizumi stood up and grabbed his bag, looking down at Oikawa, "Don't mess this up. He is still pretty young. Good luck, Tōru" and he left, out of the door.
So why was the left-behind Oikawa so stunned? Simple: Iwaizumi smiled. A genuine smile to offer comfort to his child-hood best friend.
