PART 10

"Nikki wake up!" I hear Lyndsay say. "We have to go."

I open my eyes. I dreamt the whole thing.

"Hurry there's a meeting in fifteen minutes." She says.

I crawl out of bed and get ready. Lyndsay and I hurry to the performance area where I run into Paul.

"Hey ." He says awkwardly.

"Hey I need to tell you something." I say.

"What?"

"I'm sorry for running away a few weeks ago and for avoiding you."

"What happened? I thought you wanted me to kiss you."

"I did. I just got scared and didn't know what to do."

"Why'd you get scared?"

"Because I'm starting to f-" I'm cut off by the producers calling everybody toward the stage.

"We have a lot of preperation for tonight." He says. "I've talked with the judges and we agree everyone needs to be completely distraction free."

I look at Paul and he shrugs.

"So there will be absolutely no dating between contestants, back up singers, or dancers. There is also a strict eleven o' clock curew. You're all dismissed."

I stand there in shock. I was just about to tell Paul my feelings for him, and now it's ruined. Tears start building up in my eyes. I turn to Paul.

"What were you saying?" He asks.

I swallow the lump in my throat. "It's not important anymore." I say quietly and walk away.

****PAUL'S POV****

"What were you saying?" I ask. I can tell she's on the verge of tears I just don't know why.

"It's not important anymore." She says. She turns around but I grab her wrist.

"Nikki what's wrong?" I ask. She shakes off my hand and walks away. Danny comes up to me and looks as confused as I am.

"What was that?" He asks.

"I have no clue. She apologized about what happened. She said she got scared. And she said she was starting to something but got cut off."

"Weird.."

"I know.."

"What did she try to say?"

"I don't know, she said she'd wanted me to kiss her, and she started to say why she got scared. She said, 'because I'm starting to f-' and that's all."

"Paul you're an idiot."

"Dude what the hell?"

"No you are. She likes you."

"What?"

"Yea she was going to tell you, but then they made that rule. So she couldn't." Danny walks way leaving me to process this. I see Lyndsay walking by.

"Lyndsay!" I call her over. "Where's Nikki?"

"In our room. She looked kind of upset."

I run to their room and bang on the door. "Nikki, let me in." I say. I try the door knob and it's unlocked. I walk in and see her on her bed crying, and cutting her legs.
