Chapter III

Jungkook: Come in.

Guard: Alpha, a letter has arrived from the Frostwork pack for you.

Jungkook: Okay, give it to me. (Guard gives the letter to him) You can leave now.

Jungkook reads the letter. He looks at the name signed as a signature for a moment before keeping it on the desk.

Mr. Jeon: What does it say, son?

Jungkook: The new pack leader of Frostwork pack is organizing a conference to discuss a more united future for the packs. It's being held this Saturday and I have to leave tomorrow. Lisa.

Lisa: Yes Alpha?

Jungkook: Give the responsibility for the drills to your best soldier. I want you and Hoseok to accompany me to the conference in the absence of Yoongi Hyung.

Lisa and Hoseok: Yes Alpha.

Jungkook: And Chanyeol. I want you to manage the military affairs and Yoongi Hyung to manage the administrative matters while I am gone. If any problem arises, send me a letter. If there is an emergency, seek my father for the solution. Inform all these to Yoongi Hyung too when he comes back.

Chanyeol: Okay Jungkook.

Jungkook: Jongin-ah I want you to personally lead the group protecting the borderline while I am gone. I don't want to take risks with the security of the pack.

Jongin: Yes Alpha.

Rosé: Jungkook, a senior healer at the hospital is retiring this week. About four people have applied for the position but only one of them is capable enough to handle the job. If I have your permission, can I make the appointment?

Jungkook: Yes Rosé, you can proceed with the appointment. Also, I want you to give me the digital records of all the current workers at the hospital. Organize the data on the doctors, nurses, and healers into separate files and mail it to me.

Rosé: Ok Jungkook.

Mrs. Jeon: Jungkook, the food supplements from the Blood Moon pack arriving through the trade route of the Woodwind pack have not been reaching here regularly.

Jungkook: Yes, Eomma. Yoongi Hyung has gone to Woodwind pack to investigate the matter. In case the woodwind pack refuses to cooperate, I'll personally send a letter to Bluestone pack to allow supply through their trade route with the travel duties paid to them.

Mrs. Jeon: Ok Jungkook.

Jungkook: If that's all then let's disperse for today. Hobi Hyung and Lisa, prepare to leave tomorrow morning.

Hoseok and Lisa: Ok Alpha.

Jungkook: Okay then. You all may get back to work. The school is about to start and patients will start coming too. Training drills are about to begin. There will not be another meeting until I get back from the conference. If there comes any problem while I am absent, inform my father or Yoongi Hyung or Chanyeol. If there is absolute urgency, send a letter to me at once. Thank you for your time. Good day.

Everyone goes back to their work and Jungkook goes to his office room. He again brings the letter from the Frostwork pack closer to him and sniffs it. The familiar scent from the forest caught his attention when he first read the letter. He looks at the letter carefully with a small smile adorning his lips.

Jungkook: Was it you at the forest earlier today Kim Taehyung?

At the Frostwork pack

It is evening time and the much-awaited event of the new pack leader taking charge has arrived finally. People are very happy and are celebrating this event. The new pack leader walks through the street in the pack wearing the traditional attire of a pack leader with people looking at him in admiration and respect. He walks up to the packhouse respectfully bowing to the people on both sides of the street. 

He steps onto the specially made dais moving closer to his father, the former Pack leader who is waiting for him with a badge in his hand. Taehyung has seen the same badge being worn by his father since the time he could remember. Now when his father is about to hand over the same badge to him with a proud smile on his face, Taehyung cannot help but feel a little giddy inside.

Mr. Kim: I am so proud of you, my son. You have always proved yourself worthy of this position. I cannot think of a better person to entrust the Frostwork pack to. I know you will never betray the pack and its people. I trust you son. Work hard.

Taehyung: Thank you for trusting me, Appa. I will not fail you.

Mr. Kim smiles and pins the badge to Taehyung's coat. He gives an encouraging pat on Taehyung's back as the other turns towards the people.

Taehyung (to the people): I, Kim Taehyung, pledge to obey and uphold the Constitution of the Frostwork pack and to devote myself to the well-being of the Pack and its people.

The people applauded loudly. Taehyung looks at his parents and cousins standing on the dais with a proud smile on their faces. As the gathering comes to an end people move back to their houses. Mr. And Mrs. Kim congratulates Taehyung once again before heading back to the packhouse to rest. Taehyung is now with his cousins going into the forest with a blindfold that prevents him from seeing anything. He is being guided by Jisoo and Jin holding both of his hands.

Taehyung: Where are we going?

Jisoo: It's a surprise.

Seokjin: You'll see when we get there.

Taehyung: Fine.

After a few minutes' walk deeper into the forest.

Jisoo: And we're here. (She opens Tae's blindfold) Ta-Da.

Taehyung opens his eyes to see a small cottage made of wood and glass in the middle of the dense forest.

Taehyung: Whose place is this?

Namjoon: It was built recently but didn't have an owner until now. It's yours. Congrats, little buddy.

Jennie: We know you like having a little alone time sometimes. Since you are the pack leader now, you will not have a lot of free time for yourself. When you feel like you want a break you can stay here.

Seokjin: This way you can have your little holidays and at the same time be readily available for any important matter of the pack.

Taehyung: Thanks a lot guys. This is great.

Jisoo: Well then what are we waiting for? Let's get in.

They enter the house to see a beautifully decorated living room with a fireplace. There was a small open kitchen with a breakfast counter, a dining table with a seating of three, and two bedrooms, one master bedroom, and a smaller bedroom. There was a closet filled with clothes for Taehyung in the larger bedroom. Taehyung's eyes were glistening with happiness on seeing all this prepared for him by his cousins. A warm feeling spread in his heart, yet it felt somehow empty. Something was missing in this house. Although Taehyung couldn't understand what it was, he couldn't get the thought out of his mind. He turns towards his cousins.
