I strolled down the corridor in my new dress and boots. I lived for the attention at school, after all I never got any at home. James Sanderson, high school heartthrob would be my date to the dance. I held my head up high, flicked my bouncy bleach blonde curls onto my shoulders and walked towards him.
"Hey James, you, me, dance next Thursday", I said to him confidently.
He looked at me confused. I looked into his green eyes hoping to figure him out somehow.
"Hey" he said, "I'm not sure if you heard but I already have a date, I mean I would love to go with you but I er, I just can't".
"Oh okay, who are you going with then"? I asked.
" That's for me to know and you to find out", he said.
"Fine" I huffed, prompting him to say yes, instead he dismayed it and carried on walking up the corridor. I slammed my locker shut, taking all my anger out on it. "How can he say no to this"? I asked myself in the mirror of my locker.
" Who are you talking to"? asked Mia ( my best friend since I was about 5) as she touched up her lipgloss.
"No one" I replied, "have you gone a shade lighter on your ombré, looks amazing"! I said trying to change the subject.
"Tell you later" she shouted as the bell ring for 1st period.
