One last wish

Chemistry

I blasted the music into my ears to drown out the sound of my maths teachers voice.
"Jessica Gleem, are you listening to anything I am saying"? He shouted.
I sat upright and stared at him in the eye.
"Yes" I said, " you will be incredibly pleased to know that I learnt this over a year ago at boarding school and kept the work you know just to refresh my mind since I learn absolutely nothing from your lessons"!
His face sank, " Miss Gleem please go to the head teachers office and have more respect for your elders".
"I always knew you were old, now you've just admitted it to the whole class, simply amazing", I replied.
"That's it I've had enough, please leave my classroom now before I go and speak to the headteacher for myself" he replied.
I got up off my seat and stormed out shouting, "you're doing me a favour you know".
Mia came out after me and grabbed my hand, grabbing my arm.
"What's going on Jess, hey, the last time you did this was in the 7th year".
"I'm just disappointed & at the minute just need some space, please", I replied to her.
"Ok" she said, letting go of my arm. I've had anxiety since I was about 11 and both me and Mia have learnt to live with it. She comes to counselling with me and learns new tips to prevent an attack after an outburst like that. I honestly don't know what I'd do without her. I walked down to the office and stood outside was James.
"Hey Jess, I was wondering if that invitation to the dance with you was still open"?
"I don't know at the minute James, sorry. I'll text you tonight when I have made my mind up".
"Ok well make sure you do", he smiled his teeth sparkling, "I'll see you later got to head to chemistry".
"But I thought you needed to see Mrs Rodgers?"
"No, I heard your teacher shouting and knew you would be coming here so I got excused so I could ask you about the dance"!
"Oh" I blushed, "that's er cool".
He laughed and strolled up the stairs his hands in his jean pockets. I looked up at him and smiled. I wish I had recorded that.
