An off licence shop was write in my view line, two minutes walk away. I pulled out my fake ID and ran over there as quick as I could, picking up a bottle of wine and texting my Mum back:
Got you the wine! What's it for and who's died? Xxx
I got a cab and setback home, my head pressed up against the window, my teeth chattering with worry. As the car pulled up outside the house, I could see two police cars, a fire engine and two ambulances.
"Oh my god! What the hell has happened!"
I jumped out of the car paying the taxi driver, to see Mum and Dad stood with a very shaken old couple. There was a smash in my neighbours window, their car had been vandalised, the words liars written all over it. I gasped in shock as I saw our house; my windows had been smashed and smoke came out of the living room window.
"Mum, Dad are you ok?" I asked, whilst hugging them. "Are you ok too?" I asked my neighbours.
"We're fine dear, it's you we are more worried about!" Mrs Green told me, grabbing my hand.
"What do you mean?" I asked, concerned.
They all pointed at the police car on my right in sync. I squinted my eyes to see Mia sat in the back, her face expressionless.
"Oh my goodness!" I screamed.
I dropped my bag and gritted my teeth as I ran over to the car, smashing the window with my fist, cutting the skin.
"You cow!" I shouted at her, slapping her face, my nails swiping her skin. Blood dripped from her cheek and a police officer grabbed my waist, pulling me away from the car.
"Go to hell" I shouted back at her, whilst trying to pull away from the policeman.
"I understand this is all daunting but you must stay calm!" He said, letting go of me. "I'd just like to ask you a few questions, if that's ok?"
"What?" I snapped, already getting restless.
"What relation was Mia to you?"
"My best friend of 10 years as of tomorrow!"
"Ok. Do you know of any problems she may have had at home?"
"Not that she told me of, apart from the fact her parents let her do what she wanted and didn't talk to her about anything. She didn't know what periods were until year six!" I said giggling. "That sounded better in my head."
The officer laughed.
"Ok, well did you tell her everything?"
"What do you think?" I asked, the policeman shrugging back at me. "Of course I told her everything, you men are so secretive, seriously!" I said shaking my head.
"Ok that's enough for now, but we may need you down at the station later on for further questioning!"
I strolled over to my mum and dad who were currently looking at me in disgust.
"Who died Mum?"
"Jessica!" My mum said looking at my father.
"Should we tell her?" She asked him.
"Jess, Mia shot a student at your school. I believe she is called Flora?"
"No, no that can't be true!"
"She broke into our house, set the living room on fire, threw our television out and smashed Mr and Mrs Greens conservatory windows as well as the damage you can see now!" My mum told me.
"Why Mr and Mrs Green though?" I asked confused.
"Flora was their granddaughter!"
"I never saw her there, and what did Flora ever do to Mia?" I asked them as I suddenly realised myself what it was.
"She found out yesterday! They spent less than twenty four hours with their only grandchild!"
I could feel a tear rolling down my cheek and suddenly I realised, this was all meant to be. I crashed to my knees, plummeting to the floor, cutting my knees. I screamed, thrashing my hands on the gravel.
"Noooooooooo!" I shouted.
My mum lifted me, wiping my tears away with her sleeve.
"We will be staying in a hotel for a few nights until we can afford to buy a new house!"
"I want to meet my real parents!"
My dad looked at me in horror.
"Maybe not just yet!"
"Fine, well do you know what it's like to be me? No! Did you realise when you were 14 you actually had two sisters, one of which you never found out how they died? No!" I screamed, grabbing my stuff, running up the hill.
"Wait!" Voices shouted from behind.
"No!" I shouted back. "I'm going to live my real life!"
This was it. My chance to be me. My chance to live the life I never had the chance to experience. I am free.
