"Why are we acting like kids?" I asked swinging. We were at Junior's Playground in the earliest morning like lost ghosts who happened to freak people by the cry of old swings."Because we are since we break in here, you fool!" She laughed speeding to and fro. I wonder why we were acting really like strange kids?
"Hey, you never called me that!"
"I know."
"So?"
"Sometimes it's funny to call a universe lover; a fool!"
"Give me a break!" I huffed dismissing her from my sight.
"Sorry."
"Fine."
"Sage, it's time. We gotta reach home before our parents could wake up and more trouble if we get caught sneaking into the home." She turned her head at all hazy directions as if our parents will appear out of thin air.
"It's crazy, when did our parents become so strict?"
"Since when you got ill, my cool friend."
I pursed my lips staring at the empty path leading towards the exit. I meant what she said.
"Before leaving, I'm suggesting you to be careful from that guy. Okay?" She repeated ready to walk out. The rusty old swing cheeped when our weight was removed. I only nodded in answer.
"Sage, you know I've decided not to come back to this town until and unless I reach my goal." When we were crossing the dark silhoutte of trees, she spit out finally and I stared at her to point out if she's kidding to the another level. But she was not.
"And lastly if any person that hinders you from your dreams and joy, then that person doesn't deserve to be your friend. I am referring to someone whom I found not so humanly. Can't believe he exist."
Stone? I wonder why he is in her bad books?
"Okay okay..that's clear. But are you serious about the first one?"
"Sadly I'm serious. You must do your best too, Sage. We cannot stumble at every pit we came upon in future. We have to fulfil our dreams so that we don't afraid to face it later."
"I..I am not sure yet." My voice trembled. Her words, every syllable she uttered were as if something had struck her tremendously. Maybe that was growth but I was anxious if I could overcome my fear. Fear of being left alone.
"Sage," she kept her hand on my shoulder,"Why are you not sure? I believe you can do anything you want. You know yourself much better, I don't have to tell you that, do I?"
"No.." I hugged her supressing my tears. "You don't have to."
"I will miss you. And when you fulfil your dreams, I will be the one who would decorate your walls full of polaroid; pictures of you in the space or maybe in the another planet?" She laughed at the last quest. I could no longer held back my tears.
"You fool, your friend is crying now. How could you leave me by saying that?"
She hugged me tightly letting the words out, "Cause I believe in you and your dreams, Sage."
Is believe enough?
This feeling was similar to that day when I got to know about my disease named Lupus. I felt numb like my body was floating into nothingness. We pulled ourselves out of the melancholy and said our goodbye to the old Junior's park, together.
Walking my friend at her home, I was straightway to my house. The sky was beginning to turn into blue and the stars were gradually fading with the light of the sun. The cold wind and flickering lights of the street added bittersweet discomfort to my emotions.
