AN: For those of you who don't know, I did say I was going to take a break from Wattpad for my mental and physical health, but honestly, writing is who I am as a person. It calms me, brings me down to earth, and allows me to let out my feelings and ideas to people who don't know me. So, yeah, for these next few days I'll only be briefly checking Wattpad, but I am on here :)
Aru sat in the training room, the four guardians sitting in front of her.
"Think, Aru, about what has happened to you in the past three years of your life," Alva said gently.
Aru let out a small chuckle. "I have hit rock bottom, over, and over, and over again. And trust me, that's just barely scraping the surface."
"Just because you've hit rock bottom, doesn't mean you need to stay there," Alva responded.
Aspyn rolled her eyes. She knew that they would get nowhere with Aru if they asked her simple questions like that.
"Aru, what kind of environment do you want for your people?" Aspyn asked. She knew Aru would have to put more thought into that answer.
She was right. Aru sat in silence for five minutes, her eyes focused on the wood floors, and her brows furrowed together. Her nose was slightly scrunched, and her eyes allowed the four to know she was deep in thought.
"I want to live in a society where there are ups and downs, but the ups and the downs bring people together. I want people to start relying on others to help them, and not think that they are alone in this world." Aru said quietly.
She looked up at the guardians, who had their arms crossed over their chests in a relaxed matter.
"I want Byburn, Cata, and all the other countries to pull together. I know I am the measly age of seventeen, but I am still queen! In Byburn, without some form of unity between the other nations, my title means zip. If my people are dead because some dictator can't get his head wrapped around the fact that the world doesn't rely on power, then we're doomed."
"I don't care about a fancy title, or a bejeweled crown laying upon my head. I care about the people, and a crown means nothing without a kingdom to support it! I care about each individual's life. I want to know how they are functioning, or how they make it through tough times. I want to get a glimpse inside their mind, so I know what I can do to better the realm!" Aru spoke, her voice full of spirit.
Kai tilted his head slightly to the right in thought. The kid was right. Ruling wasn't about a title or the crown that comes with it. It's about the people and how they are doing. A title means nothing if the people aren't happy with the way they are living.
Alva narrowed her eyes, thinking about what Aru had said. The kid standing before them all was wise. Wiser than them at points, and they were called the guardians and protectors of the world. To be honest, it wouldn't kill them to take some of what Aru had told them in the past few months and apply it to their everyday life. She admired how Aru had poured her heart and soul into what she was saying.
"You're right," Kai said quietly.
"What?" Aru asked, shocked that the legendary warrior, Kai, had told her that she was right.
"Kai is right, Arundhati. He is the wisest out of us all. He knows about the world. He knows about the land and the sea that makes it up," Dallas began. "Sure, he may be a bit hot-headed at times, but when he tells someone they are right, they must be."
"Your kingdom won't fall unless you allow it to. If you allow yourself to change how you rule, you can change the world, but only if you look at the country from another perspective," Aspyn said.
