Guardians of the galaxy- Vol 2 - Rocket X Reader

Part 17

Gamora, Drax, and Mantis fall from an incredible height from the Drill. They land with the aplomb,Gamora looks up and sees the Laser Drill curl behind the Self Chamber as it tries to avoid the envoys' blasters.

In the drill:
Nebula, Y/N and Groot settle as the ship rights itself and Blast pierce the ship around them. Quill peers down at Rocket, who has jumped out of his seat and is pouring out the contents of his satchel. "Why aren't you firing the laser?! " "They blew out the generator! I think I packed a small detonator." Rocket tells Quill


"A detonator is worthless without explosives!" Y/N nods "Nebula is right, how are we gonna destroy Ego?" "We got these!" Rocket shows Y/N and Nebula the Anulax batteries. Quill leaves the controls to Yondu as he climbs down beside Rocket, now messing with wiring on his bomb as
Y/N stands up. Standing next to Quill looking at the bomb Rocket is holding "Is it strong enough to kill Ego?" Quill ask "If it is, it will cause a chain reaction throughout his entire nervous system." "Meaning what?"
"Quill The entire planet will explode." Y/N says "We'll have to get out of here fast. I rigged a timer." Rocket says as he stuffs the bomb back in his satchel. Groot climbs on Y/N's back as she walk with Rocket and Quill to the hole of the drill, all 3 of them slap on their aero rigs

"Go!" Quill yells as they run and jump out of the laser drill, flying with their aero rigs, avoiding gunfire from Ayesha and her squad, they zoom towards the blast hole on the side of the self chamber.
Rocket, Y/N and Quill land in the opening that was made from the drill.

Reader POV
I put Groot down, feeling worried about the group "hey, Rocket. Quill.. I'm gonna go check on the others while you two deal with the bomb" I walk over to Rocket "if anything happens.. I love you Rocket" I kiss his cheek and quickly flew off towards the group, landing beside Mantis, I can see she is worried about something else entirely, looking around. I see the entire chasm begins trembling and the walls start to mutate in front of our eyes.
"He's coming." Mantis says, fear in her voice, hearing this. Drax turns to her "Didn't you say you could make him sleep?" "When he wants! He's too powerful! I can't!"
Drax gives her a determinate look "You don't have to believe in yourself because I believe in you." We look ahead. I see, on the enormous wall in front of them, the light-formed into a angry ego screaming towards us, his screams becomes a tunnel of rocks rushing towards us, Mantis sees a nerve bundle on the ground coming from Ego's Core. Although afraid, she grabs it.

"SLEEP!"

Mantis screams with effort and some pain as energy travels through the bundle and into the core, where it darkens. The light leaves the rock formation and slams into the ground in front of us, splashing dirt all around me and the others. Looking around, everyone is safe as Gamora and Drax looks at me then to themselves
"I never thought she'd be able to do it. With as skinny and weak as she appears to be." Drax says, I give him 'dude, she's awesome look' with a side smile, looking over I see Mantis's arm is trembling like crazy. "I don't know how long I can hold him!" She cries out, I step towards her "You need to, girl. If you don't keep Ego at bay, we all die." I look towards the core. Hoping to goodness, my Groot and Rocket is okay.

In the core:
Rocket shines a Pen-Light with a cat lazer on it inside the cavity, exposing the interior, spattered with Swiss-cheese-like holes glowing with light.
Groot sees the pen "I Am Groot!" Rocket looks down at Groot "shush... don't tell Y/N I took it from her keychain and I'll get you more candy from her secret stash" Groot nods as Rocket look back into the Cavity The metal is too thick! For the bomb to work we'd actually need to place it on Ego's core. And our fat butts ain't gonna fit through those tiny holes." Rocket says to Quill.
"Well..." Quill slowly eyes Groot, who is now playing with a leaf on his arm and thinking about something else entirely, probably the candy Rocket promise him.
"That's a terrible idea." Rocket tells Quill. "Which is the only kind of idea we got left."

Rocket sighs, putting Groot on his shoulder and walks deeper into the blast hole, mumbling to himself
"Unbelievable. 'Rocket, do this. Rocket, do that.'"
Quill turns toward the opening. "Uh, what a day." He jumps out into the fray. Quill flies up as a ship flies in toward him, shooting as he fires back

Rocket POV
Quiet, blast happens in the background. As I place a tiny bomb in front of Groot. It is a small, simple device with two switches and two buttons.
"All right. First you flick this switch, then this switch. That activates it. And then you push this button, which will give youm five minutes to get out of there.Whatever you do don't push this button" I point to the button "because that will set off the bomb immediately, and we'll all be dead. Groot: "I am Groot." "Uh huh." "I am Groot." "That's right." "I am Groot."
"No! That's the button that will kill everyone! Try again." I say, looking at Groot as he thinks.
"I am Groot." nodding to his correct answer "I am Groot." I nod again
"I am Groot" he points to the wrong button.
"No! That's exactly what you just said! How is that even possible?! Which button is the button you're supposed to push?! Point to it." Groot thinks for a bit then he points to the one that will kill everyone, my mouth drop open and I growled
"NO!!!" I yell
"Hey, you're making him nervous!"
I quickly turn to see, at the end of the hole, a sliver of the outside as Quill peeks in while he shooting at envoys.
"Shut up! And give me some tape! Does anyone have any tape out there!? I want to put some tape over the death button!"
"I don't have any tape. Let me check." Quill disappears from the hole. As I wait, listening.

"Yo, Yondu, do you have any -ow!- do you have any tape?!" Hearing gunshots as I hear voices grumbling, as Quill asked around for tape.
Groot and I look around, waiting. Being impatient I cough, looking over to Groot looking like a bored kid in a waiting room. He shifts around and plays with the wires on the bomb.
Hearing gunshots from behind me, I look over to see Quill "No one has any tape."
"Not a single person has tape?" I ask
"No!" "Did you ask Nebula?" "Yes" "really?" I ask him "she was sitting next to Yondu when I asked him" "I knew it, you Liar!!"
"You have priceless batteries and an atomic bomb in your bag! If anyone had tape it would be you!" "That's exactly my point! I have to do everything!" I growl

"Dude, you're wasting time!" Quill says as Rocket turns back to Groot, who has already taken the bomb and is heading towards the hole. He makes a "WHEEEEEE" sound and smiles brightly as he hops into the hole and slides down.
Rocket, heavy-lidded, watches him go.
"We're all gonna die."
