Chapter 8: Scott's POV
Where is she?
Where the hell is she?!
Faye has been gone for over TWO HOURS, and I am honestly starting to panic. Wherever that girl is, she's too far for me too hear her heartbeat or catch her scent, so I'm completely clueless. What if she's lost, or ran into a werewolf, or got hurt, or all of the above?!
Oh god, oh god, if she gets hurt, mom is gonna kill me! One day, one god damn day Faye has been here! Is this what a panic attack feels like, because if it is then Stiles has my apologies for anytime that I've underestimated how completely debilitating they can be!
"Let's not jump to any conclusions here -- " I order myself. She's probably just taking her time walking around or something, getting used to the new area. Yeah, that has to be it! After all, Faye never said how long she would be gone, and I would want to look around a bit too if I had just moved to a completely new town.
Even so, I texted Stiles about her prolonged disappearance, asking him to let me know if he heard anything.
He responded almost immediately, saying that he would check the trails for her in the Jeep.
As soon as the message sent, I realized how excessively paranoid I was being. No sane human being would be worrying this much. Then again, human isn't the best descriptor wen talking about me. And while we're at it, neither is sane.
"I am overreacting, I am overreacting..." I slowly assured myself while pacing back and forth in my bedroom. "Faye is fine, Faye is-"
DING!
My phone on the nightstand erupted with noise as a text notification lit up the screen. I quickly dashed over to it an hastily unlocked the message. It's gonna be Stiles, telling me that he just found her body at the bottom of a ravine covered in bites and slashes! Oh, and her head must be missing too, the thing that attacked took it clean off of the shoulders! God, there's blood everywhere, what is happening?!
With my heart in my throat, I slowly unlocked the message and read its contents.
From: Derek
'Found Faye wandering in the woods.
Bringing her back now.
And calm down, I can hear your heart beat from a mile out.'
I breathed a sigh of relief, resting my forehead against the wall for support. "Told you that you were overreacting." I muttered to myself, smiling slightly at my stupidity.
Five minutes later, I heard the wheels of Derek's Camaro slowly come to a stop in front of my house. The sound of the passenger side door opening and closing rang in my ears as Faye hastily exited the car.
"Thanks for the lift." Her familiar timid voice made me exhale calmly, like a weight had just been lifted off of my shoulders. And she doesn't sound injured or anything, so that's a plus.
"No problem." Growled another voice. And that would be the sourwolf himself, Derek Hale.
I shouldn't have been listening in on their conversation, but the protective side of me wanted to hear what Derek would have to say. He's a bit notorious for not exactly being welcoming to strangers, so it seemed important to make sure that he didn't freak Faye out too much.
After all, pretty much everything that he says has to do with the supernatural, because 98% of the people that he actually talks to are involved in it somehow.
