Three Months Later...
I stood by the noticeboard, hands in pockets, scanning for any new notices. I felt an arm around my shoulders and rolled my eyes.
"Go away, Shaade," I muttered. He laughed and hugged me tighter. I elbowed him in the side and wandered off to the Library. Sophie and Rebecca were sat at one of the tables, talking. I could see Lotte sat at one of the computers and Loki was nowhere to be seen. A hand clapped my on the shoulder and I jumped. I'd found Loki.
"Good morning, my lady," he said with a grin. "And how are we today?"
"Fine," I said suspiciously. "Why?"
"Is it illegal to ask how someone is?" Loki asked innocently. I frowned and shuffled away from him, making my way over to Rebecca and Sophie. I sat down at the table and joined in the conversation. Within time the talk turned to a fresh new notice that I had failed to spot earlier."A ball?" I said in amazement. "A masquerade ball?"
"Yep," Rebecca nodded. "Joint with the boy's school."
"To raise awareness for A God's Gamble," Lotte explained, sitting down. "I just checked on the website."
"So that's why Shaade and Loki were being nice to me earlier," I murmured. "Hmm."
"What are we going to do?" Sophie asked. "I mean, we're so antisocial this is going to be torture for us all."
"Just stick in a group and glare at anyone who comes close," Rebecca suggested.
"I'm going with Vita," Lotte said. "You guys can stand in a corner and sulk."
"Apart from Georgina," Rebecca said slyly. "You'll have Shaade and Loki fighting over you even more now."
"Oh God," I groaned. "I didn't think of that."
"This should be interesting," Sophie said gleefully.
"Try not to kill them," Lotte added.
"Who will you pick?" Rebecca asked. I glared at her.
"Neither. I'm going to sit in the corner and frighten everyone away."
"I'll stay with you," she replied. "No way am I dancing with anyone."
"We have to dance?!"

Our first lesson of the day was Form Time. We were having the prospects of the masquerade ball explained to us and I was only slightly listening.
"So, make sure you have an outfit sorted for next week," the teacher concluded. "No trousers, girls."
"Miss that's sexist," Lotte said immediately. "We should be allowed to wear whatever we want."
"I'd like to see Loki and Shaade in a dress," Rebecca whispered. I smiled whilst the Super Glitches laughed. Mrs Small scowled.
"What's so funny?" she snapped.
"They're joking about us, Miss," Shaade said.
"It's not very funny, either," Loki added. Mrs Small pursed her lips and crossed her arms.
"Girls, see me after lesson," she said. The laughter was silenced and my smile died. She really didn't like us.
"Miss, you don't have to do that," Shaade said immediately. "It's fine, really."
"No I insist," Mrs Small said coldly, cutting him off. "Now, let me re-iterate the points you need to know. Make sure you dress nicely, no jeans in sight. Girls, wear whatever you want but dresses must be below knee length. No excessive jewellery, make up or accessories. If you don't have a partner then you don't have to come but if you do try not to lower the tone by sitting in a corner grumpily. Everyone is required to dance at some point in the evening and the cast of A God's Gamble will be performing a scene at the end of the evening so make sure you stick around! Next Friday, seven PM until ten-thirty PM. Tickets will be on sale at the door and all through the week, three pounds each. It will be a lovely evening and a chance for you to mingle with the boy's school. I expect you all to be there as it is now your homework." Groans sounded all over the room and planners were reluctantly got out of bags to scribble down the work. I sighed and scrawled it across the back of my hand.
"You know what sucks?" I said to my friends once we were out of the lesson.
"What?"
"Because we're cast we have to go."
