Sam worked as a barista in a small cafe by the river. Bucky found himself going there all the time, him and Sam were very close. His excuse was that the coffee was good, and definitely not his feelings for Sam. He wasn't sure when he'd started liking him, but it must've been a little while ago. He was going there today with Sharon and Sam's sister, Sarah. Of course, Sarah and Bucky had been before, and Sharon wanted to know what all the fuss was about. Bucky talked about the cafe all the time, and Sam always made his way into those conversations. Sharon and Sarah had their suspicions about Bucky and Sam's relationship, but didn't want to press on the situation. They entered the cafe and found a table, waving at Sam as they did so.
"I'll go order drinks - what does everyone want?" Said Bucky, bouncing his knee impatiently. He glanced over at Sam as he waited for a reply from the two. He couldn't wait to go talk to him- even if for just a moment.
"A cappuccino please." Said Sharon, looking around the small, cosy cafe. Bucky nodded, looking to Sarah.
"I'll have a hot chocolate." She said, giving Bucky a smile. Bucky nodded, jumping up and making his way over to the counter. He waited as the person in front of him ordered, and then he approached Sam once they had left. Sam's slight frown immediately turned into a heartwarming smile when he saw Bucky.
"Mornin, Buck." He said, leaning on the counter. Bucky returned the smile.
"Morning, Sam." He replied.
"What can I get for you?" Asked Sam, preparing to write down the order. Bucky bit his lip, remembering what the other two had said.
"A flat white, a cappuccino, and a hot chocolate." Said Bucky after a moment. Sam nodded as he wrote it down.
"Alright." He said, straightening up again and meeting Bucky's eyes. Bucky got out his wallet to pay, but Sam pushed it away.
"Your coffee's on the house." He said with a smile. Bucky's heart skipped a beat and he put his wallet back in his pocket.
"Okay.." He said, the smile coming back onto his face.
"I'll call you up when they're ready." He said. Bucky nodded and mumbled a thanks before heading back over to the table. Sarah and Sharon were both grinning at him as he sat down. His face flushed red.
"What?" He asked, his voice wavering nervously.
"Nothing, nothing." Replied Sharon, leaning back in her chair. Bucky nodded slowly, narrowing his eyes.
"So, did you and Sam have fun the other night?" Asked Sarah, turning her gaze away from Sharon and back to Bucky.
"Er.. yeah." He said.
"Was it busy?" Sarah questioned, tapping her fingers on the table. Bucky assured himself that she was just interested, and meant nothing bad by it.
"Yeah, I mean- you can't even go to a club with a friend, without having somebody shove you." He said with a groan, putting his face in his hands. Sarah raised an eyebrow.
"Bucky, don't pretend that Sam's your friend, we all know that he looooves you~" She said, grinning as Bucky's face turned even more red. Sharon gasped, looking over to Sam, and then back to Bucky.
"Wow, now that you mention that sexual tension, it's easy to see." She said, laughing slightly. Bucky groaned, shaking his head. Why did these two love to tease him so much?
"I- that's not-" Bucky stammered. He narrowed his eyes at her.
"Yo, this is bogus." He said.
"Haven't you noticed? You get all your coffee for free." Said Sarah, smirking. Her and Sharon high fived. Bucky sighed, resting his head on the table.
"You two are the worst." He said. They both laughed. Just then, Sam called Bucky over. Bucky's head shot up from the table and he got up. Sharon and Sarah exchanged looks.
"Here you go." Said Sam, sliding the three drinks across the counter. He had written their names on them. How Sam knew who's was who's, Bucky will never know.
"Thanks, Sam." Said Bucky with a smile. Sam returned it, sending him a wink before going back to doing other things. Bucky inhaled so sharply he almost choked on his own breath. He picked up the drinks (with some difficulty) and scurried back over to Sarah and Sharon. He put their drinks down in front of them and stared at his. Next to his name was a little heart, and the words "wanna go on a date?". Bucky's heartbeat sped up and his stomach twisted. Was Sam really asking him out? He glanced over at Sam, who was leant on the counter watching him closely. He immediately turned away when he saw Bucky looking. Bucky grinned, grabbing his bag and fishing around for some paper.
