Human realm: Northern Plains; Marcus’ house

Landon has been watching Marcus pace around the house for days now, ever since he returned from Mount Olympus. “Are you going to tell me what’s on your mind babe?” Marcus stopped his pacing as he turned to Landon. “I just don’t understand why Lord Zeus wouldn’t let me talk to Gabe. It irritates me. Why doesn’t he trust me?” Landon had thought it might be something like this, he would have thought that Lord Zeus might have slowly changing his ways. Apparently that is not the case; if Marcus’ nervous and pacing behavior is anything to go by. Landon wrapped his arms around Marcus “Don’t worry too much about it babe. I am sure that they will be okay.” Marcus wanted to object but Landon cut any protest off by placing his lips on Marcus’, distracting him. After an intense make out session, that led to things done behind closed bedroom doors, Marcus in a noticeable better mood. Landon wasn’t fooled though; he could still see Marcus being worried about the whole situation with Gabe and Hercules. “Why don’t you invite the two of them over for diner so you can talk about the whole thing?” Marcus shook his head “Lord Zeus won’t let me. I already tried that.” Odd. Landon huffed and crossed his arms “What in the world is Lord Zeus up to this time?” Marcus just shrugged, saying that he didn’t know.

Both Landon and Marcus were surprised the next day, when they open the door and see Hercules stand there on their porch. Speechless they stared at each other for several minutes before Marcus pulled himself together and invited Hercules in. “I am surprised to see you here Hercules. Where is Gabriel?” Landon looked around, hoping to see the werewolf once again. Hercules just shrugged “I don’t know he left early this morning and hasn’t returned yet.” Marcus’ eyebrows rose “And so you just left the Pack behind unprotected?” Landon sighed at him as Hercules glared “It’s not my responsibility. I am as much as a prisoner there as I was in Tartarus. So why should I care if they are unprotected?” Landon cocked his head to the side “They treat you as a prisoner? Aren’t you the mate of the Alpha?” Hercules sighed as he ranked a hand through his hair. “That doesn’t matter to them, if it wasn’t for Lady Luna saying so I think I would have been killed on the spot. Which might have been easier; I know it would have now that I am looking back on it.” Again Marcus and Landon were surprised by the blunt answer; they had thought Hercules would be cocky and arrogant. Instead they had a self-loathing and slightly depressed Hercules on their hands. Landon and Marcus shared a look, not really knowing how to handle this side of Hercules. Growling under his breath, Hercules got up from his seat on the couch and made his way to the door “I gotta go. His highness wants me back there.” The last thing they saw was him walking down their drive just as silently as he came. Leaving the two behind bewildered.

Human Realm: Blood-Wolf Pack

Little Nathaniel was running along the path that would lead him to Hercules’ favorite spot in the woods. He was a little excited; he couldn’t wait to tell Hercules he finally managed to land a solid blow on one of his tormentors. He was huffing for breath before he noticed that he was the only one there. Taking a seat on a big flat stone, he prepared himself for Hercules’ arrival any moment now. His shoulders were slumped after two hours of waiting and still no Hercules. He was trying hard to keep his sobs to himself as depressing thoughts took over his mind. See, he’s just like everybody else. He doesn’t care you for one bit. That’s not true! If he didn’t care why would he teach me how to fight? He pities you, that’s why or he had nothing better to do with his time. It was instinct when he dodged the blow aimed at his head by his own father. His eyes widened, he was so caught up in his own thoughts that he never noticed the man arriving. “What-what brings you here father?” He licks his sudden dry lips as he stares at the glowering man. “I could ask you the same thing you useless brat.” The man all but growled, “And how dare you attack Declan without any provocation? You should be ashamed of yourself!” He roughly gripped Nathaniel by his scruff as he started to drag him down the path. Of course I am at fault for being targeted by Declan and his cronies. Nathaniel was grateful that his father couldn’t hear his inner most thoughts. Unlike most parents he had no mind Link to his parents or any other family member. Nobody knew exactly why that was, they all just accepted it. The only one who could weakly hear them was the Alpha; even he had trouble with selecting them.
