Northern Plains: The edge of the Blood-Wolf territory
Hercules didn't know why, but he couldn't cross the edge of the forest into the open grassland. There was something holding him back, there was something that told him that if he crossed over he would never return again. He wasn't sure if he never wanted to see Gabriel again, you better stay here. They can help you. He gripped his hair and tugged on it violently, making him focus on that instead of the confusing thoughts that swamped his mind.
"Tug hard enough and you'll go bald."
His head snapped to the side and glared at Gabriel who was casually leaning against a nearby tree. Not knowing how he knew, but he was sure that something had changed about Gabriel. "Why are you here? Don't you have other important things to do?" He didn't mean to snap, it just happened. "I went to work, at Marcus' Café." Hercules' eyes bulged, his mouth dropped to the floor. "You get to go and wherever you want and I can't frigging go to the bathroom without your Beta or any other Pack member with the duty of following me around going into a frenzy." Hercules stomped past Gabriel, hopefully back the way he came.
Hercules was walking around seemingly aimlessly along the many trails, yet he wasn't lost. He was just enjoying his track through the rich wooded areas. He was minding his own business, enjoying the lovely weather, until Gabriel decided to make his presence known once again "I get to go wherever I want because I am the Alpha." He demanded, making Hercules' bristle at his commanding tone. "And what am I? Your prisoner? I thought mates shared responsibilities, one isn't better than the other. And yet, despite all that you treat me like I am the enemy here and that you are better than me. I am so fucking tired that everybody gets to speak their mind about my behavior and think they know me. Yet I am not allowed to defend myself. Nobody asks me how I am doing, or what I think of things. No, they all assume that I did whatever I did because I can and because I am a snotty, cocky, arrogant little brat. They never look for my side of the story, just like you."
Gabriel was left speechless, what Hercules said was true. They never wonder if he did what he did because he wanted to. It never crossed their minds that he might have been forced to it, they all assumed that he wanted to do what he did.
He must be quite lonely.
Shaking his head, Gabriel forced that thought to leave his mind, there is no way he'd be lonely. "Come, we need to go back to the Pack House." Gabriel turned on his heel not bothering to check if Hercules followed him, he assumed he just would. Finding it disturbingly quiet behind him, for he knew for sure Hercules would grumble and mumble the whole way back. He did so the first time he went looking for him. He was surprised to see no sign of Hercules following him anywhere, he did get a little nervous, but he decided to leave it to Hercules to follow his trail back to the Pack House when he decided to return. He was getting a little tired of Hercules acting like a deviant little brat, he needed to grow up and face reality.
A few feet behind him Hercules stopped, wondering what good it would do him returning to the Pack House. He didn't know if he could stomach another day filled with scornful looks and the not so quiet whispers of the Pack members. He'd rather be out here; at least here nobody would judge him on his previous actions. Out here there were no scornful looks and smug females whenever Gabriel talked to them about things concerning the Pack instead of him, or teaching him the ways of the Pack.
He hated to admit it, but he'd rather be in Tartarus. It might not be the best place to be in the world, but there he knew what to expect. He wasn't left guessing what he did to piss off a council member, or how to tell the difference between a warrior wolf and a Pack House guard. He felt like such a failure, such a burden to Gabriel and his Pack that it would be better if he disappeared. Yes, that was the best for everyone, this way it would be a win-win situation for everybody. Gabriel and the Pack would be relieved from his burdening presence and he would be free of all those scornful looks and evil whispers. By doing so, he will risk being sent back to Tartarus, but he decided it was a risk he was willing to take, he knew all about the way Tartarus works anyway.
