Stefan's Pov:
I park my car outside of Cassandra's house, I decided to arrive earlier than usual, so that way she doesn't have to rush today. I turn the car off and pull the keys out and shove them into my pocket. I get out of the car and shut the door behind me, walking up the steps and knocking on her door. "Cassie!" I call out. She doesn't reply so I twist the door knob realizing it's left unlocked. "Cassie." I call for her again. This time up the stairs. She should really lock her doors. Vampire or not. "I'm up here!" I follow the sound of her voice up the stairs, and into her bedroom. "So, you leave your door unlocked?" I ask as I look down at my shoes while she pulls a shirt over her head. "Yeah, well it's just me here." She explains as I frown, and cross my arms over my chest. "So, what? No cover story, or fake parents?" I ask curiously. "Nope, I'm 'emancipated' or whatever. That's the story I went with and stayed with. It's working out pretty well for me." She says as she walks over to me. "Excuse me." She says as I move away from her closet door. She opens it grabbing a pair of black, ripped jeans and sliding them on. I turn my gaze to the ceiling of her room. "And when people ask about how you afford a place like this?" I question. "Easy, I have an uncle that loves me dearly, who helps pay for things, too bad he's in the army." She shrugs. "I also can sometimes cover things up by saying government assistance." She walks over to her dresser applying mascara and a bit of lipstick. "Can you pass me my black boots." She insists as she clips on her earrings and her rings. "Sure." I grab the pair of shoes she was referring to and hand them to her. She slips them on with ease. "So, coffee?" She asks. "How about today, we'll buy coffee on the way."
"Sounds good to me." She picks up her bookbag and lets it fall onto her right shoulder as she grips onto it to keep it in place. "I also wanted to ask you something." I add as we make our way down the stairs, I stop at the foot of it causing her to stop two steps up. "What is it?" She asks as I turn around to face her. "Is it about yesterday, at the dinner? Because, if it is, I can assure you no one suspected anything. If you're nervous we don't have to go to school today." She says eyeing me. "No, no. There's no problem there, I was just wondering if you wanted to accompany me to the founders day party." She pauses for a second, I can tell this was an 'ohh' moment for her. She smiles and replies, "I would love to accompany you to the founders day party." I reach my hand for hers. "My lady." I flirt/joke and she smiles. "Ah, what a gentleman." She plays along flattered, placing her hand into mine. She walks the last few steps down, becoming shorter than me once again. She doesn't let go of my hand until we reach the car and I open the passenger side door for her. "When are you going to drive me to school?" I joke shutting her door. Despite being able to hear her regardless, she waits until I am in the car, and starting it up to answer. "Oh, you were doing so well at swooning me." She says putting her feet up on the dashboard as I start driving. "Nuh, uh." I push her feet down. "Off, and stay off." She rolls her eyes playfully. "You suck the joy out of everything." She removes her feet from the dash, placing them on the floor.
