Cassandra's Pov:

I pull into the parking lot of one of the best coffee shops in town, Retro's. Honestly, I enjoy it a lot more than Starbucks, it's authentic and has a homey feel to it. Last night I had everyone text me their favorite coffee from here. We're all planning to study for our history test at the Salvatore's today. It was Caroline's idea, considering she's the planner of the group, she also didn't really give us a choice. "Come on, Stefan and Cassie have impeccable memories when it comes to History, let's study together." After a few times of begging, we all gave in, and agreed. I walk into the small shop and order everyone's drinks, Stefan, Lia, Bonnie and I all getting hot coffee while the others get iced. "Name for the order?" The cashier asks, "Cassandra." He nods and writes my name on every cup. I decided to sit at one of the empty tables as I wait for my order to finish being prepared. I scroll through my Iphone as I wait for my order, going through pictures I took this morning of the sunrise. I then smile when I get to a picture of Stefan and I, his arm wrapped around my waist as he looks down at me, a smile plastered on his face as I'm staring into the camera. Oblivious to this man's happiness at the sight of me.

"Didn't know an old school witch would be so into new modern era tech." A familiar voice speaks as I look up and I instantly stand up. "Edward!" I exclaim and wrap my arms around him and he does the same, pulling me into a hug, his arms around my waist. "I thought you dead." I whisper into his ear before pulling away so I could take a look at him. "I thought the same of you." He explains. "What happened?" I ask. "They transferred me to another hospital, there was overcrowding once you left.." I frown, It was quite a small hospital, for it to be overcrowding while dying of the Spanish Influenza couldn't have been fun. "Your mother?" I ask quickly once I start to remember bits and pieces of my past. Some of it has faded with time. "She died." I cross my arms over my chest as I glance down at his chest. "And you didn't." I state not hearing a heartbeat from him. "So it seems. I was saved by a doctor." He explains. I smile, "I'm glad he chose you to save." Edward and I go way, way, way back. We've known each other since childhood. We were best friends, and then the Spanish influenza washed over our small village. My father was the first to die, my mother soon after. Edward would come over and help me tend to her until she died and we both ended up catching it as well. "What about you?" He asks. "It seems as if we had like minded doctors." I try to explain without saying vampire aloud. He nods in response instantly. "Are you busy today?" He asks, when I go to respond, my phone pings and I check the message. Caroline's reminder to the group not to forget about our study session, and that there's nothing that can excuse it if we don't show up. "Yeah, unfortunately I am." I state looking back up at Edward. "We should catch up some other time then?" He states more as a question with a kind smile, "Yeah, of course. Just give me your number and I'll text you." I open up the contacts app and type in his name with a blue heart beside it. "Impeccable memory still." I smile at him. "Still blue, is it not?" I ask. "It is." I look back down to type a simple "Hey, it's Cassie."
