"Get out of the car!" Steve yelled, opening the car door as fast as he possibly could. The others didn't hesitate. They jumped out of the vehicle and stood behind the car, not knowing what to do.
Robin ran to the trunk and let the two other girls hop out. They all stood and stared at each other. What were they supposed to do? Where were they supposed to go? How were they even supposed to react? There was too much going on.
First, you find out that Russians are trying to take over your town and possibly the entire world (again), now you have several new people that have no clue what's going on, and now these evil Russians are chasing after everyone with deadly weapons.
"What the hell are you doing?" Steve hollered. "Go!" He demanded.
The Scoops Troop took to their feet sprinting as fast as they could. The Russian soldiers followed.
"Hult!" One of them yelled in a thick Russian accent.
The Troop looked over their shoulders and tried to speed up.
"I told you this was a bad idea!" Alex huffed as she ran next to Dustin.
"Well I didn't know they were gonna have giant guns!" Dustin snapped.
"Well guess what, Dustin?"
"What?"
"They have giant guns!"
"Well I see that now!"
"I would hope so!"
After running for some time, some of them began to slow down as they ran out of breath, which let the Russians catch up.
The sounds of the soldier's boots hitting the ground as they chased the Troop began to get louder as they approached.
"Stop!" Another soldier tried again. Obviously, it didn't work.
Steve looked over his shoulder to see that Dustin was beginning to slow down. Steve looked back and forth, wondering if he should keep running, or get Dustin.
Screw it.
Steve turned around and headed towards Dustin, who's face was red and out of breath. While running to Dustin, he looked at him and felt a pang of guilt.
He insisted that they go to the base. He insisted that they go find out what's going on. And he insisted that everyone goes with him. And now everyone was running for their lives.
Steve went to grab his tired friend by the arm, but instead, Steve was grabbed by a Russian and roughly tugged away. He squirmed and struggled, trying to get out of the Russian's grasp.
And even though it was hard to see with all of the movement, he watched, as clear as day, as Dustin was grabbed by a soldier.
"Hey!" Steve elbowed the soldier in the stomach which sent the soldier straight to the ground with a thud. For good measure, he stomped on the soldier's stomach as well. "That's for everything last year." He pouted.
He began to chase after the soldier that had Dustin in his grasp. Steve knew that they didn't have to come here ever again, at least not in an entire group, but there was no way in hell he was leaving without Dustin.
"Hey!" Steve yelled again, as if that would do anything.
Well, actually, it did do something.
It got more soldier's attentions.
They noticed Steve's trespassing onto the base. They didn't hesitate to charge at him. One grabbed his arm as another pushed on his back. They yelled a mix of Russian and English which Steve couldn't understand.
As the soldiers pushed him to the ground, he saw out of the corner of his eye, that the others had gotten a hold of Robin and Mia.
But where were Erica, Dom, and Alex?
Were they okay?
Were they alive?
He didn't know. He didn't even know what was happening anymore. But he was aware of one thing.
It was his fault.
