Stranger Nights

Prologue

In the year 2023 the sun that the earth had been living under for so long vanished. It was strange. The scientists had not expected it to burn up for another million years, but even so they concluded that it did in fact burn up and now they were all doomed.

Six billion people died from the cold alone.

One million people died from the chaos that they could not hide from. Another five million from taking their lives. That left the human race with only nine hundred ninety-three million people

The suffering finally stopped when a man named Arthur Martinez, a Spanish man who happened to be in America when the sun disappeared, invented a artificial light that could go in homes and on lamp posts to grow crops. This didn't stop the cold, but it made it less deadly so the people merely had to dress like it was winter.

The human race silently decided to split into groups depending on their beliefs. The atheists took the bottom half of Africa. Catholics took all of Europe. Muslims took half of Asia while the Buddhists took the other half. The Satan worshippers took the top of South America. Christians took what used to be the United States, but is now just referred to as Gods Republic. That is where the story takes place, but we won't start on that yet.

After they were settled there were a few disputes about the sun matter. Whether or not it was truly gone, theories on what happened, and the most popular one, were the scientists right or did god do this? These didn't last long though because soon the groups started to keep to themselves and learned to not question things they could not answer.

Soon they would find that all their answers could be found in the heart of a boy who was born at the exact time the sun disappeared, eight minutes and twenty seconds before the earth knew about it, but we won't get into that yet.

There were bigger things to worry about at the time. They had to get workers to work on the crops so that they would not starve. All the electricity they had were put into the artificial suns, getting rid of all unnecessary things like phones and video games, and all those who could work worked, they were paid with food rations.

Money was used as fire until it was all turned into ash. Those who were too different were cast aside, especially in God's Republic. And most of all, it was dark and always cold.

That is when we will start getting into it.
