Charlotte 's house was dark. Not a single light was on. Freddy didn't want to go in there for fear of this all being some horrible trap and he die a horrible death. He didn't know yet that Charlotte was as harmless as she was silent.

Charlotte Baker was Henry's cousin. Born a year after the sun vanished. Making her fifteen. Her mother died while giving birth to her which is the reason Henry's Uncle, Luke Baker is unable to look her in the eye.

Charlotte Baker was Henry's and Charlotte's grandmother and also the person Charlotte was named after. She was the only person Charlotte was able to talk to, but she died last year. Since then Charlotte's eyes have been blank and tired.

The boys walked up the creaky wooden steps and Henry knocked on the white door with the paint chipping off. No one answered.

"Is no one home?" Freddy asked.

"She's here." Henry said. He opened the door, but before he went in he added, "She's been acting a bit...strange lately."

Henry led Freddy through the house that looked more like a old ladies house than it did a teenage girls house. Charlotte was found sitting on a yellow chair in the dark living room. She was looking out the window intently. Thats when Freddy determined that Baker's must see things that other can't because all Freddy saw out that window was darkness.

Charlottes was hugging her knee's to her chest and didn't even talk until Henry said something.

"Are you going to brush your hair?" Henry smiled motioning to Charlotte's messy blonde ponytail.

"Mm." Charlotte said quietly still staring out the window. Henry sighed.

"I've brought someone over." Henry said. Freddy offered up a smile, but she still didn't look. "He's my drug dealer."

"Like you take drugs." Charlotte said. She sighed and stood from her chair and looked at Henry. "Aren't suppose to be in the woods?"

Henry shrugged, "Aren't you cold?"

Charlotte was only wearing a grey sweater that read Dartmouth College in black letters, dark blue jeans, and some socks. There wasn't any lights on so nothing was fighting against the cold air.

"I have a resistance to cold." She told him, "Why are you here, bugging me?"

"Miss me that much." Henry joked, and when she didn't respond he said, "This is Freddy."

"Hey." Freddy said to her. She only stared at him like she was trying to solve a math problem. Her eyebrows were furrowed and she played with the sleeve of her sweater absentmindedly.

"Are your lungs okay?" She asked switching her attention back to Henry.

"Yep." Henry said happy she was talking.

"Good....do you want to go on a walk?"

"Can Fred come?"

"Don't call me that." Freddy snapped.

"Sure." Charlotte answered ignoring him.
