SHORT STORY

This is something I wrote when I was suppose to be studying. This has nothing to do with the plot. Please enjoy. This will not give you a break from the angst.

There is a boy who spends most of his time in the woods. He likes to tell himself that he's not alone. He likes to tell himself he can make friends if he wanted to. So why doesn't he have any friends?

Soon the boy is fifteen and he still spends time in the woods. He likes to tell himself he doesn't need friends. He likes to tell himself that friends only bring trouble. So why is he always so lonely?

Soon the boy is seventeen and he meets boy with blue eyes and a pretty smile. And he likes to tell himself he doesn't care. And he likes to tell himself that he won't befriend the boy.

But he is a liar.

A girl is often thought to be like her cousin.

They have the same hair and they same nose, but they are different.

She used to think that she was like her cousin. She used to think that she was as kind as him, but she is no longer that naïve. Her heart is darker and heavier and she doesn't smile. So she curls into a ball and hopes he can't see her.

But she knows he can.

One night he comes to her and he's pale and his smile falters. And he tells her things shakily and he cries. She hugs him and tells him she loves him.

And she's glad she's not her cousin.

A boy with a nice family and a light laugh is happy.

His cousin is always tired and grumpy and sometimes she doesn't move. She doesn't cry and sometimes he wishes she would so at least he could see how she feels.

His friend he met in the woods calls him mean names, but blushes when they talk. He avoids questions and rarely talks. He wishes his friend would talk to him.

He thinks he can not worry them, so his smile gets heavier like his cousins and he starts avoiding questions like the boy he met in the woods.

He is no longer happy.

Three people running.

One is fifteen and her eyes are wide enough to see the dark corners of the world.

One is sixteen and his eyes are bright and shiny, but sad too.

One is seventeen who pretends to be blind.

They are running away.

The girl with green eyes runs away from her present. The boy with blue eyes runs away from his past. The boy with brown eyes runs away from his future.

Not having anywhere to go they don't stop.

Until one day their paths cross and they momentarily stop to rest and to think.

But soon they start running again.

This time they have some place to go.

They run toward each other.
