The ash-blonde hero-in-training was quick to push the red-haired male out of the way, who was currently focused on making sure that the perimeter was clear and that no citizen was in sight or any possible danger. He scowled at that, pushing his entire body weight to move him and the redhead away from the blast that was aimed towards him. Then there was a loud boom, a piercing sound, and everything turned blurry, then dark.

The redhead felt a shove and a cloud of dust surrounded him, causing him to cough violently. There's noise up ahead and he follows, something twisting heavily in his gut, like something was wrong, but he ignored it. He helped the others fight off the minor, weaker villains to help the civilians escape.

When it was all over, Hawks came to check on him along with Endeavor. Endeavor looked around and asked in a booming voice, "Where's the feisty kid?"

Kirishima looked around and his eyes widened. Where was he? He was usually right there, never far from the redhead out of protective instinct. The memory of feeling a hand push him forward earlier entered his mind and his face paled. No. No way.

Kirishima whips around quickly, eyes searching urgently and feet moving on their own. There was no way. His feet led him to a pile of rubble and he quickly activated his quirk, punching and digging through rocks and cement manically. He spotted familiar gauntlets attached to a limp body and almost threw up. He dug further and saw a beaten, bloody blonde.

Thunder crashed over them and the other pro heroes rushed to him, pausing when they saw tears fill the redhead's eyes as he touched the blonde's still-warm body. They tried to reach and touch him but he flinched away and held the blonde's body.

"O-Okay, Bakugou, jokes over, get up," he murmured, shaking him. His eyes flickered all over the blonde's face and brushed away dirt on his cheek. "Come on, you're dirty. Y- You don't like being dirty."

The heroes looked at each other, pity gnawing at them as they witnessed this scene in front of them.

"Come on, kid. Let's.. let's go, the pick-up crew will take care of him," Hawks murmured, reaching out to him.

Kirishima growled, eyes flashing as he held Katsuki close to his chest. "No, no— he's not dead, okay? He's fine, he's good— call the fucking paramedics."

The pro heroes looked at each other, unsure how to go about this.

Kirishima blinked and tears fell down his cheeks, finally breaking down. "Katsuki. Katsuki come on, wake up. You're okay, you have to be okay," he whispered brokenly. "Our story just started, you can't do this— fuck, it's not fair, Katsuki."

"Alright, come on," Endeavor said gruffly. He grabbed Eijirou's arm and pulled him off roughly, causing Kirishima to go ballistic and kick and scream for him to let go.

"Stop- Stop!" He said in between breaths, not wanting to be apart from the blonde. Suddenly his eyes caught the twitch coming from the blonde. "No— stop, he's alive, did you see that?" Endeavor paused and Kirishima took that chance to rush to his side. "Didn't I tell you guys to call 911, get the fuck to it."

Mirko and Hawks look at each other, sighing. Mirko hopped away to the police officers and Hawks stayed. Kirishima held him to his side, grabbing his hand and stroking back his hair. He whispered into his ear incoherent things, tears falling down his cheeks.

"It's gonna be okay, it's gonna be okay..."

Hawks had a pitying expression on his face and squatted down next to him. He awkwardly began, "Look... I don't want you to get your hopes up. There's a good chance he won't even make it the—"

"Shut up, he'll make it. He has to." Kirishima said firmly. He choked out a sob, "he has to. He has to. I- I love him, he has to know I love him." He pressed his forehead against the blonde's, whispering through sobs, "I love you, Katsuki, please. This can't be goodbye. I'll see you later, right? Please, please..."

He didn't see him later.
