I'm proud of you
If there's one thing I want to hear, it would be those words.
Growing up, I've been an overachiever.
Partially because I wanted to pass school, but it was mostly because it's something my father wished. He would talk to me a lot of times to focus and to be better than the rest, that I'm on another level than they are.
To be honest it was toxic of him but I also didn't want to disappoint. To him, I was somehow never enough. And never did I once hear those words from him
Those four simple words that meant the world to me.
"As the leader, I would want to give my opinion on who should do what" the Secretary began.
We nodded, agreeing with her
"I was thinking if you can come up with the flyers for the event" She started assigning the team while I thought of what I wanted to do.
I want to be in charge of the design of the venue. For once I didn't want to deal with grand speeches and such, I just wanted to do what I love.

"For Sunhee, you'll be the host"
I paused. I opened my mouth to speak but she spoke again.
"Since you're the topnotch of the school and you're basically known for that, then i think you should just stick with that" she raised a brow
I swallowed my words
"Yeah, I think she'll be great for the job"
"I don't think Sunhee would want to do anything else anyway" the other spoke
The rest nodded and started agreeing as if I wasn't there. I played with my fingers as I listened.
"Hey" Sunghoon spoke in which they all stopped what they're doing and looked his way.
"You've all been telling her what you want her to do but you never asked what she wants"
"Let her speak," he said sharply
The team was quiet and they all looked at me
I felt Sunghoon's gaze, "Is there anything specific you want to do?" he spoke softly to me.
I cleared my throat, "I was hoping I can do the design of the venue" I said timidly
They all looked at me confused
"I just thought that I wanted to do something different for once. I only ask for you all to trust me"
The Secretary nodded "Just don't mess up"
"When did she ever?" Sunghoon defended, I pressed on his side lightly to signal him to stop and he did.
After the meeting was over, we were dismissed and we made our way out.
"You should start speaking up for yourself, Berry" we walked alongside each other.
