Chapter 8

CORAL

Well, I guess I wasn't overthinking after all that crow/ harpy did look suspicious.

Lilianah aimed her bow and brought down 3 harpies at once, Ciera was doing a pretty great job at cutting off the harpies' wings and then stabbing them to their deaths, whereas I wasn't having such a lucky day. I managed to get my clothes ripped apart, and their sharp talons grazed my skin, leaving it burning and bleeding, but I still managed to take down 5 of them. Even then, they kept coming at us.
"THERE ARE TOO MANY OF THEM" I screamed to Lilianah and Ciera. People were running around, screaming in fear, pushing Lilianah, making it hard for her to aim. Well, they obviously didn't see these bloodthirsty creatures, the mist  probably made them see some crows or something. It was just pure chaos.
"I KNOW" Lilianah screamed back.
"WHAT DO WE DO NOW?" Ciera asked
"CIERA LOOK OUT!" I screamed as I saw a harpy swoop down on her, Lilianah managed to shoot it with her arrow.
"EVERYONE BEHIND THAT BENCH! NOW!" I screamed at the two of them, running towards the nearest bench.
"Now what?" Lilianah asked
"It's gonna be way too tough to defeat them like this" Ciera agreed "Coral do you have a plan?"
"I- well- I don't" I said "but we could try combining our powers"
I explained to them the very not properly thought out plan.
"It's too reckless-" Ciera started,
"I know but it's the best we can do right now" I defended myself.
"Alright then, if we die here, Coral it's on you" Lilianah said getting ready.
I smiled at her "ayy ayy captain."

Lilianah stood up and faced the harpies, aiming her bow at them.
"OI YOU FUGLY CREATURES, I'M DOWN HERE! WHO ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?" She provoked the harpies.
"CIERA NOW!" I screamed as we both jumped out of hiding. Ciera touched the ground, waking hordes of the dead skeletons, while I tried to channel the waters inside of me with every emotion just as Percy had taught me. I felt a strange tugging in my gut, "this is it, here is my chance" I thought as I unleashed the waters, the waves reaching up to a great height bringing the harpies down and drowning them. Meanwhile, Ciera ordered her dead warriors to attack all the ones that survived, and Lilianah shot the remaining ones that were flying.

"WE DID IT!" Lilianah screamed
"YAHOO CORAL YOUR PLAN WORKED"
"I know, I'm glad we didn't die," I said, drying up the water.
"Yes, but even though we didn't die, those wounds are nasty" Ciera said pointing at our wounds.
"They sure are, we should find a place to stay for tonight" Lilianah said.
"Agreed"

We found a place to stay that night, the three of us had to share a room because as always we didn’t have enough money for three separate rooms.
“Ouch, fuck that hurts” I winced as Ciera tended to my wounds.
“Shut the fuck up Coral, you decided to be the reckless one” Ciera scolded.
“Jeez, Ciera you’re literally the mom friend” Lilianah commented.
“Yes and the two of you are my children, now come here Lils gotta bandage that gash up” Ciera replied as i laughed.
“Okayy mom,” Lilianah said.

After we finished bandaging up all our wounds, we ate some snacks that Lilianah had sneaked out of camp. We fell into a comfortable silence as we ate, and I was the first one to break it.
“You know, I’m so glad you guys agreed to come with me, even after knowing we all might end up dead” I said
“Hey, now we’re friends aren’t we? There wasn’t any way in the name of Hades would we ever let you do dangerous things alone” Ciera said.
“Yea but-” i started
“Coral? Is there something bothering you? Don’t lie because I will know” Lilianah said tapping her mouth indicating that she’d use charmspeak if i were to lie.
“I had this dream..”
“Go on” Lilianah urged
I explained my dream to them and they stayed silent for several minutes after I finished.
“This is why I didn't tell y’all earlier, I didn't want you guys to think that I was dragging you to your deaths. I promise i won’t let you die, it’s my responsibility now, I’m so sorry-” I got cut off by Lilianah as she gripped me hard
“Coral calm down” she said and I realised I was close to having a panic attack. I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself, Lilianah was definitely using charmspeak.
“Better?” Lilianah asked and I nodded.
“Okay now, i get it why you hid this from us, but we wouldn’t have ditched you if you would’ve told us earlier, in fact we could’ve consulted Chiron and the other demigods who have experience with dangerous dreams and quests like Percy or Annabeth maybe even Nico”  she said.
“I know, but now that i’ve made a mistake we gotta figure shit out ourselves”
“Don’t worry we’ll see what happens once we encounter them, for now let’s rest, it’s almost midnight and we’ve got a long journey to complete tomorrow” Ciera told us.
“You’re right, time to sleep” I said.
“Goodnight guys”

With that we entered into our dangerous dreamlands once again.
