Chapter 28

I stand there in disbelieve at what Ethan just said. How does he even have the nerve to tell me he cares for me after he tried so hard to ruin my life. Even if he wasn't lying I'd go through anything to get my mom because in the end she's always been my family even if she didn't always have the best ways of showing it. I'm just starting to get her back, I can't loose her again. Without another word I push past Ethan and head for the door but he stops me. "I won't let you do this to yourself!" He says and tries to hold me back but whatever happened to me with Aiden today was no fluke and I punch him right in the jaw then I throw him back against the wall. Unlike Aiden he makes no move to try and hit me back instead just sits on the ground with pleading eyes but I ignore him and run down the hall.

I know this is a trap but I have to go get my mom and I run into the room only to find my suspicions confirmed when I see my mom chained up against a wall with my dad standing over her. "I'm glad you could make it Lucy we still need to finish our talk from earlier." He says with a smile. My mom finally realizing I'm here speaks up "Deucalion why are you doing this." She uses his full name unlike when they were married she use to call him Deuc for short. Personally I don't blame her what kind of name is Deucalion anyway? He probably got it from the same people that came up with our last name. "You can't make me kill people for your own benefit!" I say avoiding my moms gaze. "I'm not asking you to kill people, I'm asking you to kill Derek there's quite a difference." He say so carelessly. "Well forget it I'm not going to kill Derek end of story!" I yell with confidence and he looks at me. "And as your father I understand that but can't you see it's whats best for you and the pack." He says as the door opens behind me and I turn around to see Scott and Allison getting dragged into the room in pretty bad condition. Surprisingly Allison doesn't look as bad as Scott who at this point I hope is unconscious so he doesn't have endure anymore pain. Then I see that Ethan and Aiden are the ones dragging them in, with the other girl Scott was fighting nowhere to be found. I look at Ethan with disgust but he refuses to make eye contact with me. "Can't you see that if you don't all your doing is hurting the people around you." My dad says. "Just let them go if I'm the one you want then they don't need to be apart of this!" I say all the while looking for any traces of what was once the dad I thought I knew but I find nothing. "Now if I did that what kind of example would I be setting for my pack if I just let everyone go." I go to respond but I'm stopped by the sound of a loud crash and I turn around just in time to dodge Stiles jeep as it comes crashing through the wall. Through the dust of crushed rubble I can barely make out Derek and Isaac as they come running to my side. I take advantage of the distraction and grab my mom knowing I have to get her out of here. I run and open the passengers side door to Stiles car and lift her into the seat, all the while she stays silent to in shock to speak. I try to thank Stiles but he cuts me off. "We'll talk later!"I nod in agreement, shutting the door as he pulls out of the wall and speeds down the street towards my house.

The alpha pack recovers fast and charge at us. We have the numbers to take them now that Scott has healed and Allison looks ready to shoot whatever gets in her way. My dad hangs back letting the rest of the pack attack. Aiden takes on Derek just looking for a fight and it seems the girl with the toe claws has returned to finish off Scott. Isaac rushes towards a older pack member and I know he'll need help so I run over claws out and ready. All around me I can hear arrows flying and animals snarling but I focus on just helping Isaac right now. Isaac has the element of surprise as he attacks the man but obviously with more experience he turns around and kicks Isaac's feet out from under him. He's just about to bring his claws down when I come up behind him kicking him hard enough in the side to break some ribs. The man recovers fast and comes at me using his brute strength as a advantage but I'm faster and as he comes at me I push him to the floor then before he can get up I slam his head into the ground hard enough to knock him out. Isaac gets up and before we can speak I hear Allison scream and I look over to see Ethan grabbing ahold of her crossbow leaving her almost defenseless. Isaac looks at me and runs over to help. All around I see my friends getting thrown everywhere and I know we're losing horribly. Then I see my dad slowly coming up behind Scott who's to preoccupied with fighting to see him coming. A warning escapes my lips but I know I'm to late. He grabs Scott by the shirt and pulls him to the ground and without hesitation starts punching Scott in the face. To defenseless to fight back Scott lays there cringing and screaming as he takes each punch. The fighting around me stops as everyone stands in horror as he continues to bring Scott closer to the brink of death with each hit. Even Derek looks to scared to stop him. I know I need to help so I step forward only to see I'm to late as he raises his claws aiming for vital organs I know this is the end for Scott as he brings his claws down to far away for me to do anything. But at the very last second Ethan pushes Scott's limp body out of the way and the claws pierce deep into his stomach. He cries out in pain as blood begins to pour from his wound making it clear its to deep of a cut. My dad backs up signaling the rest of his pack to follow. "What about Ethan we can't just leave him like this!" The girl says. "He chose to help them so he's their problem now." He says and the pack follows him out without further debate, even Aiden Ethan's own brother but I know he's to scared of my dad to disobey.

I'm the first to make a move, running and kneeling beside Ethan. I lift up his shirt to find the cut is even worse then I thought and I try to think of a way to stop the bleeding but there's just to much blood. He must see the look of my face and knows he can't be saved because he grabs my hand and holds it. A gesture that I wouldn't usually encourage but given the circumstance I squeeze his hand back and hold it in mine as I sit there watching him die.
