Chapter 24
The next day I'm more than happy to go to school because its about the most normal thing I've done lately. My classes go ok and I occupied my mind with worksheet from days I've missed. For once everything is calm until Im walking to the cafeteria only to see two familiar faces talking to Lydia and Allison. At first I don't think it's them but when they turn around, Ethan and Adian smile at me as they're walking away with the girls.
I know their doing this just to get to me besides if they really want to cross paths with Allison and her werewolf hunting family go right ahead. The first time Scott told me I thought he was joking but now thinking back to when I first met her it explains the unspoken edge to her. He also told me that she and her dad Chris would never harm us as long as we never hurt anybody else but every once in a while you get that one hunter who's more for traditional rules like the ones in the woods the other day. I text Stiles again for what has to be the thousandth time but I'll never get a response. Finally I find him at his locker coming late from class. He doesn't see me as I come up behind him and when I say his name he jumps in surprise but quickly recovers going back to ignoring me. "Look Stiles I know you don't want to talk but the other night with Ethan, it wasn't what it looked like." He rolls his eyes quickly giving up on his vow of silence. "There's nothing to explain I'm a idiot for ever thinking you liked me, but just for the record you could do a lot better than tweetle dumb over there." He says sarcastically. "Stiles you know I like you that hasn't changed and he came on to me." I say pleadingly. "Yes because you just looked so tortured while you had your tongue in his mouth. If you really liked me you would have proved it but you didn't." He slams his locker shut causing me to yelp from the sensitive hearing and walks away never looking back once.
After school I go home still running the conversation I had with Stiles over in my head. I don't even bother to see that my moms at the kitchen counter having a conversation with a man. What surprises me the most is that my mom is actually making human contact with someone that's not over the Internet but that idea quickly fades. When the man turns to look at me I recognize him immediately. After running away leaving my mom in pieces and me to defend for myself years ago he hasn't changed a bit. It's my Dad, the one person I thought would never come back. "Hi Lucy." He smiles. Now I could play the nice act but what would be the fun in that. "Are you serious you abandon this family and go missing for 8 years only to mysteriously reappear now and all I get is a Hi Lucy?" I yell. "Lucy don't..." My mom whispers but I keep going. "How do you even have the nerve to show back up here. Do you see that we're finally fine without you and you have to come wreck it again? Or is it more than that, have you come here to take our money now that mom has a well paying job?" He finally has the nerve to look up at me. "Actually no I came here to talk to you."
"Well your out of luck because unless you have a damn good apology then I suggest you get out." I say. "I know I don't deserve to even be hear right now but I wouldn't have come if it wasn't important, so please?" He says pleadingly. "Get the hell out of this house before I make you." He looks to my mom for help but her expression stays blank. He nods and walks out shutting the door. I turn to my mom for the first time understanding her pain. "Mom are you ok?" she blinks coming back from her haze. "Yes I'm ok, sorry you had to go through that." And before I can respond she does something I haven't seen in years. She hugs me. Not knowing what to do I just sit there until she stops and leaves to go to her office. In shock from everything that had just happened I slide down the wall and before I can even hit the floor the tears start coming down my face. I cry for what feels like hours until I probably look horrible with red, blood shot eyes and a puffy face. There's only one person I know that can make me feel better. Not even caring how bad I look, I drive my car up to Stiles house knowing that his dad will already be at work and I knock on the door. Stiles answers it. "Lucy what are you doing here?" I look up at him. "I'm proving that your not a idiot." Before he can even speak I kiss him wrapping my arms around his neck. At first he hesitates but then kisses me back and that's when I know everything will be ok as long as I'm with him.
