"You want me to follow your son around for a week?" Pastor Smith's assistant asked him. "Yeah, I want to know if he actually rejected Rachel for this other girl, who isn't even Christian," Pastor Smith stood up from his chair. "Alright then," his assistant left the room. Pastor smith had gotten a call yesterday from Rachel explaining everything to him. "He can't see that I'm doing this because I love him," Pastor Smith sighed.
"I can't believe my mom left you here with me" Erina looked at her three year old step brother. DING DONG! "Coming," Erina yelled and grabbed the child in her arms. "Joshua. What are you doing here?" she looked at him. "You have a child? When were you going to tell me?" Joshua looked at the toddler in Erina's arms. "He's not mine, he's- uh is my friends' kid," she replied. "You're babysitting? On a Saturday?" Joshua laughed. "Yeah. I am. You know why I'm babysitting- because someone fired me from my job. And my company hasn't called me back." Erina looked at him. "I'm sorry. I really want to make it up to you," Joshua told her. "If you want to make it up to me, you have to watch Timothy today, the whole day" Erina smiled. "Really? That's what you want me to do? I can buy you something instead," he looked at her. "No. I don't want your money, I want your time," Erina handed him the child and a bag that was on top of a stack of books. "Well then, I'll see you at 3pm. That's when I'll go pick him up," Erina laughed and closed the door in his face. "Well that solved that problem" she smiled.
"You're doing what?" Andrew laughed. "Listen, I have to deal with this kid so I'll call you back" Joshua hanged up. "So what do you like to do little one?" he looked at the kid. "Ball" he whispered and pointed to a store window displaying lots of bouncy balls of various colors. "Oh you like playing ball" Joshua looked at him. The boy nodded. "Okay" let's go inside" Joshua smiled and grabbed the boy's hand. "Why is he with a kid?" Pastor Smith's assistant watched as Joshua and a little boy walked inside a toy store. "Could that be- no it can't be his. Pastor Smith will die if that kid is Joshua's" the assistant whispered to himself. "I have to keep following to find out who the boy is."
"You told him to take care of the child?" Erina's friend laughed. "Yeah and I mean he did fire me so," Erina giggled. "Do you want to go drink tonight?" her friend asked her. "Uh- na I'm going to try to get a call back from HelloFresh," Erina looked at her phone. "I'll call you back in a bit, it's three and I have to pick up Timmy," Erina hanged up and rose from her bed.
"Okay ready" Joshua pushed Timmy on the swing. "Weeeee!" exclaimed. "Sir, can you push me too?" a four year old little girl asked Joshua. "Uh sure" Joshua pushed the girl. "Me too!" a younger boy yelled. So there Joshua was. Pushing three kids at a swing set. "How did I end up in this situation" Joshua whispered to himself. "Wow you're really good with children" a woman in her 30's came up to Joshua. "This your kid?" another woman asked. Joshua looked at Timmy. "Yeah, he's mine" he replied.
"No. Now way. Oh no. Pastor Smith,he's gonna die, Pastor Smith assistant, Connor, had been watching from his car. "Who is that" Connor looked at a young woman went up to Joshua and took the kid in her hands. "Thanks" she said and smiled at Joshua. "I want to hang out again Erina" Joshua looked at her. Erina. It was her. Connor now had to prepare to tell Pastor Smith about everything. That Joshua was saying an unbeliever and that he had a kid with her.
"When am I gonna see you again?" Joshua asked Erina as she began to walk away. " Not soon" Erina turned around and laughed"You're hanging out with a pastor's kid?" Erina's mom asked her. "I'm not hanging out with him, he's just always around" Erina grabbed a piece of chicken from a big bucket that was on the kitchen table. "Mom? What if I like him" Erina blurted out. "Then you like him. You can't do anything about that," her mom looked at her. "I mean yeah but should I? Should I do something about it. I mean I know that he's living his life differently than me but, I don't know. He's one of the very few nice Christians I've met," Erina sighed. "Just date him. You know you want to" her mom teased her. "Okay okay. Let's drop it" Erina looked at Timmy trying to grab a piece of Chicken.
Erina stared at her ceiling. It has been almost two weeks and she hadn't gotten a call back. "Maybe I should start applying some where else" Erina said aloud. Then she realized she wouldn't see Joshua anymore because she had gotten fired.
"I still can't believe he fired me because he likes me" Erina began to smile. "It's kinda cute that he did that to protect him from his dad. I know he wants to like me but is also keeping his distance. Is hr doing this because he's scared that I won't like him because he's Christian, or... can he not date me because he's Christian. Actually that makes more sense. Why else would he hide from his dad?" Erina grabbed her laptop from her bedside. "Can Christians marry non Christians?" Erina typed. "It is a recommended that a Christian be equally yoked," Erina looked at her computer screen. "So basically no. That's why he's hiding me. Now I feel bad. I feel like I'm making him go against his morals against what he believes is right," Erina say down in silence. "I have to two choices. One I tell him that we can't say because that would go against his beliefs or two, I become Christian, and then I can be with him," Erina laughed. " I don't think I like him that much to- well learning about God wouldn't hurt, would it?" Erina grabbed a notepad from her drawer and a pen from her nightstand.
