NO ONE'S POV
*** Ben's phone ringing****
" Excuse me Sir.." Ben's secretary Alec called out.
Ben turned his head from his computer looking up at his secretary standing in front of his desk, he looked very displeased already.
" What ?" Ben lashed out angrily.
" I'm very sorry to disturb you sir but your
driver, Christian is calling."
Ben exhaled, grabbed the phone. Answered," Christian."
"Sorry to bother you sir but you said to call if I ever found your sons in a concerning stituation."
" And.."
" Max and Calvin are out and about."
Ben's mood and mind set instantly reset. He took a few quick seconds to calm himself from the stress of work that day.
"Hey Christian, do me a favor and watch them for me. Give them a chance till the end of the school day and see where this goes, if they do go back to school just chill out but if they don't.... Do tell."It was just a few minutes before the end of classes, Ben was in a car with Gwen driving heading towards Max's location. Ben was bitter but Gwen was completely calm, perfectly balanced duo much in the favor of Max and Calvin.
A few blocks ahead they spotted two kids walking in their direction, lousy as ever, wearing caps to cover their faces on their way back to school. Ben edged himself forward to take a closer look before resting his hand back onto Gwen's lap. He used his other hand to reach for the cane he always kept under the passenger's seat before asking for her to stop the car.
Gwen stopped the car almost instantly right in the middle of the road, luckily no one was behind them. She was baffled by the idea that Ben would actually opt to cane his son including his best friend publicly in broad daylight. She took one hand off the stirring wheel and reached out to grab the hand holding the cane.
" Baby please.." Gwen looked into Ben's eyes that were filled with rage and desperately pleaded for the sake of the two idiots right in front of them.
" I know you are really pissed right now but I also know you're gonna end up regretting this later so please, please let's not do this here.." Ben looked at his loving wife, but was not ready to let this go.The silky grey jeep grand wagoneer that suddenly came to a stop in the middle of the road startled the boys. Each unconsciously lowered their caps to cover more of their faces. Max knudged Calvin forward but he didn't move. They each took a second to scrutinize the car's number plate. Calvin's eyes grew wide as he noticed that it was Mr Kingston's car, he made a turn on his heel and held his bag pack a little tighter. Max followed suite.
"How did they find us?" Calvin muttered under his breath.
"Fuck... I don't know." Max retorted.
"You think they have seen us..." Calvin spoke with a shaky voice, his heart pounding through his chest.
Both kids shyly turned their heads to sneak a peak at the car, it was moving again."Don't walk too fast, you look suspicious.."
Max mentioned.
"Ohh is that so?" Calvin barked angrily. At a steady pace, the boys walked a block and a half, undisturbed without turning back.
Without warning, the car that was slowly following them behind sped past them and parked right next to the curb a few meters in front of them.
Max and Calvin stopped in their tracks, panic running rampant through their veins.
A few seconds in and nothing happened so both teens reluctantly took a couple of steps forward before stopping right behind the car, eyes glued to their shoes.A chuckle broke out from deep within Ben's chest that seemed to echo in the ears of the two unfortunate teens. It was at this moment that they knew, they had been made. The car door opened but no one came out.
"You boys think you're so smart, don't you?" The low rumble of anger mixed in with the slightest amusement in his dad's voice caused Max to swallow hard and Calvin to nervously rub his neck. They both kept their eyes glued to ground for the fear of making eye contact.
"Come closer " Ben commanded, but neither boy could move an inch, paralyzed with fear and drenched in sweat.
From where they stood, they could see how both of Ben's feet got out of the car but only dared to step backwards when the belt came into view.
