Chapter 2

                                 CAUGHT..

 " Hello "

"Yes. This is she.... May I ask who you are?"

"Of course, this is sergeant Darias, from the Reform school. "

"Okay .... How may I help you?"

"I'm calling about your nephew, Matthew Cameron Phillips?"
She didn't know it yet, but she had held her breath. Worst possible scenarios popping up in her head. Unconsciously, she rested the palm of her hand on her chest. She closed her eyes, gathered her thoughts and took a deep breath.

"Did anything happen to him? Is he in some kind of trouble?"

Just the word 'trouble' never failed to get the attention of her husband. He first paused and thought," It could be nothing. " He dismissed the thoughts and got up from his seat. He wasn't meaning to sneak around but he doesn't like hearing his own footsteps. When he touched Gwen, she almost lost her mind. She had no idea that he was behind her. She turned around to face him.

Ben's POV

There is that signature look that my wife always has on her face when she gets pissed off, its that thing that she does with her mouth where her chin drops and her mouth is left slightly open. Adorable, if not for the circumstances.
It's easy to see the way the tip of her tongue caresses the first premolar from the right upper side of her jaw, then she narrows her eyes without looking at anything in particular.It sends chills down my spine. It also means that someone's in trouble, and I'm almost definitely sure its not me.I want to know what's going on but this point I'm am scared to ask.
"Baby what's wrong?"
She smiles, nodding her head, looking down at the floor.
"Sure thing. We're on our way."
Honestly, I was puzzled. I had no idea what was going on at this point. Gwen looked pissed off, she glared up at me like, ' Oh, I'm about to kill someone today.'
"What's wrong Baby? Can I help?"
She put down the phone, closed her eyes and exhaled, very slowly. I could bet she was counting down in her head. That was my cue to run, give her her space, before I'm the one she was angry at.
I turned my back to Gwen and began walking away from her back to my work, that's when I heard her say, " Cameron has been expelled, again, and he in the hospital."
"What? " I couldn't help but smile, cause hospital or not, that boy is dead.

No-one's POV

It was around four o'clock when the car pulled into the hospital parking lot. It was a quiet spot, shaded by some trees so the car wouldn't get too hot in case it was going to take very long, and far enough to avoid commotion caused by other cars close enough to the exit.
When the engine was turned off, and Ben pulled the key out of the ignition, no one made a move to get out of the car. Ben slowly turned his sight to look at his wife who was lost in a daze. She was in utter shock and was just thinking to herself how not to loose her cool once inside. She made a move for the door handle and just like that, Ben did the same and they were out and about.

Cameron had woken up about an hour earlier and had spent the time getting all comfortable and cozy in the hospital bed, getting familiar with all the nurses that dared to check up on him. He had finally got his doctor to get him some food because he was actually starved. He sat there grinning and completely oblivious of the present and coming danger.

Nurse Jacky walked into his ward accompanied by a nurse who brought his meal.
"Hey Cameron, how you feeling?"
"Well, I would say good but you have been starving me? "
See now, nurse Jacky was black, and you don't talk to a black woman like that. It took a lot , alot of will power for her not to smack her patient.  He was lucky he wasn't her kid, he would have died that day. Of the so many thoughts going through her head, she looked him dead in the eye, " Boy, watch your tone when you talk to me."
Cameron set his eyes on eyes on his prey, then he smirked and bit his lip, he knew he had struck a nerve.
" Oh yeah, or what are you doing to do about ?" Then he rolled his eyes and that was it for her, she had had enough. So as those invisible smoke waves started evaporating from her head, she held her clipboard and marched out. She was so angry she rubbed the palm of her hand on her forehead as she walked and was so frustrated that she wasn't looking where she was going.
Nurse Jacky wasn't paying attention when she bumped into someone. " I'm so sorry, I wasn't really paying attention. " She looked up embarrassed at the man she had just collided with.
" It's okay, it's all good." Ben replied. " Perhaps you could help us find someone."

" Sure, anything. Who are you looking for?"

" He goes by the names of Matthew Cameron Phillips. "

" Well what do you know! That's my patient." She smiled at Ben. " Right this way, I'll take you to him."
She started walking right way, not even bothering to check if they were following her or not. She reached his ward and then came to a sudden halt right before entering. " I'll be going now, I'm sorry but I'm done with that kid for the day. "

" He's not our son, he's our nephew." Gwen replied letting all the wrinkles on her forehead loose. " And why is that if I may ask!"

" Well, your nephew has done a perfectly marvelous job at getting on my nerves and I can not stand the tone in which he talks to me. I'm so sorry to say but your son is so disrespectful on so many levels." The nurse had actually broken into a sweat by now, it was quite clear was frustrated.

"It's nephew and I'm so sorry on his behalf. Let me just have a quick word with him."

At this moment in time, you could say that Cameron had been eavesdropping on them so he had a pretty good idea of what was about to happen. He watched as his aunt, uncle and his nurse walked in completely paralyzed by fear at the sight of this guardians.
Gwen first took a moment to stop and look at the perfectly horrified face plastered on her nephew. After a quick breath to calm herself, she made her way to his side never breaking eye contact with Cameron. She licked her lips and smiled. " Is it true that you were being disrespectful to your nurse?"

Cameron didn't even answer, just bowed his head and looked at the cast on his arm hoping it would save him from a beating or two. The nurse was in complete shook, she would have never believed that the boy had anything to fear with the way he acted.

Gwen looked up at the nurse," how soon can he be discharged?"

" He should be ready to go right after I finish his paper work." The nurse was ready to get the boy out of there cause she and just about all the other people that had had the misfortune of meeting him had just about had enough of that kid. " I'll go get it started. "

" Could you please wait one moment. Cameron, I want you to apologize to your nurse for being disrespectful cause she was only trying to help you. "

Cameron looked up and rolled his eyes before saying," Sorry." Gwen was so obviously amazed by how bold this kid was being and it didn't take even a second before he received one upside his head. " Is that how you apologize now? " A chill went down his spine as he made eyecontact with his uncle and a huge ball formed in his throat stopping movement of air into his lungs.

" No sir."

Deafening silence settled between them as the nurse chose to have her escape from the intense family drama unravelling itself in a simple public hospital ward. She slipped out just as Ben made his way to the other side of Cameron's bed. It wasn't long before she heard a loud crack coming from that very ward and not a single sound after that.

I am so so so so sorry a million times for not getting this chapter done sooner but it just got harder for a while to balance school home, life and every thing else around me. It just got really overwhelming for a while and l lost the mojo for quite a bit there.
