Awake

(George)

A ring in his ear and the buzz in his head greeted him as he woke up.

The recognizable sound of a heart machine beeped in his ear.

As his eyes opened, a blinding light hit them causing him to squint from the uncomfortable pain.

He heard yelling in the hallway that sounded like Sapnap. Bad and Dreams voices were also there but they were defeated by Sapnaps.

George wanted to know what was happening but when he tried sitting up, a large amount of pain flooded his head.

He felt like he was hit with a sledgehammer.

George thought about what the voice in his head said and sighed. The sad part was how right it was.

The door opened and the three friends walked in.

"Hey, Georgie" Dream smiled softly. He had a soft light shining in his eyes. After a few moments of George staring, Dream looked away blushing.
"I- sorry- hi" George stuttered putting a hand over his eyes. He felt something covering his nose but when he touched it, horrible pain flew across his face causing him to wince.

"How are you feeling?" Bad asked
"My head and face hurt" George groaned
"WHERE IS SHE?!!!" Sapnap yelled pushing Bad out of the way.
"Sapnap shhh!" Bad scolded quietly.

Dream put his face in his hands.

"Sapnap we already went over this" Dream sighed. George looked over to try and get him to continue. Dream understood and continued.
"She ran away. I don't know where she went and I don't care just as long as she's gone."
"Bullshit!" Sapnap yelled before quickly walking out of the room.

Dream and Bad quickly looked at each other before Bad ran after him.

The distant sound of yelling echoed across the hallway.

Dream walked over to a chair next to the bed and sat down.

He sighed while resting his arms on the bed and setting his head in them.

"This is familiar isn't it?" He halfway chuckled but stopped.

(Dream)

He looked into George's eyes and saw a deep sadness within them.

"I'm sorry." Dream said after a while.
"About?" George asked turning to meet Dream's eyes.
"Erika"
"I-" then George stopped "guess she didn't love me" he laughed.
"No. But I do" Dream whispered while sitting up looking down. He couldn't wrap his head around why someone would ever want to hurt George. He was sweet, handsome, and had the heart of an angel.

George has done so much in Dream's life since they were kids. Both went through rough things yet they stayed by each other's side.

Life wouldn't be the same without him.

"What?" George asked.
"I said no but I already knew that."
"Oh..." George sighed.

They both sat in silence.

"Wheres Sapnap?" George asked after a while.
"He's- hopefully Bad stopped him"
"From?"

Dream ignored his question and continued "He said he needs to talk to you."
"About?"
"I don't know." Dream admitted, "do you know where she went?"
"No. Why would I?" George asked

Sapnap came back into the room but Bad stood in the door.

"Dream please leave. I need to talk to George."

Dream looked at George whose eyes pleaded for him not to go.

"Yeah, I'm going" Dream said before getting up and walking out.

(George)

His body filled with panic as Dream left.

"I'm not going to yell at you or anything" Sapnap said reading George's expression. "I just had a question and want the honest answer."
"Ok" George hesitated.
"What was the point of Erika?"

George's heart stopped. He knew he could trust Sapnap and has told him things like this before but this time, it was almost embarrassing.

Sapnap put his hands in his lap.

"I thought if maybe I had a girlfriend, it would take away my feelings for Dream and convince people that I don't like him. I don't want to ruin my friendship with him. It's my biggest fear" George admitted with tears stinging his eyes.

The thought of ever losing Dream hurt him. It made his heart ache more than his body.

"I know" Sapnap sighed "but why would you put yourself through all of this?"
"I don't know. I've wondered that myself." George admitted "I would have ended it but she threatened to kill Dream! " he said letting tears fall at the thought.

"That bitch" Sapnap mumbled "never do that again George"
"I won't" George said attempting to stop the tears.

Sapnap put his hand on George's shoulder.

"We love you George. I promise it'll be ok" he smiled.
George tried to smile back but couldn't.

Sapnap walked out of the room and Dream reentered. Almost instantly, he hugged George awkwardly. But after a while, he settled into the hug letting warmth, comfort, and love fill his aching body.

"I just want to leave" George said sighing.
"I know" Dream replied backing away from George "let me see how much longer you have to stay here"

Then George was left in a lonely silence.

And it made him realize how much he didn't want to wake up.
