Chapter 13: The World Is Ugly

"Uhmm, Guys? " Skyle's voice broke the moment as Denver and Connor broke away from each other.

Both panting as they realised what an awkward situation it was. They coughed and moved like a feet away from each other.

"Hello" Connor offered after 10 mins of silence.

Jason, Michael, Gabbie and Skyle were just standing there in disbelief.

For a moment, it looked like Jason, Michael and Gabbie would murder Connor.

Jason moved forward with a deadly pace as Mike started" No Jase list-" But Jason actually went and hugged Connor tightly to which Connor responded immediately.

Mike and Gabe joined in on that and it soon became a sappy big family hug.

After a while, Jason extended a hand out to Skyle, who hesitated but when Gabbie did the same thing he happily obliged and joined in.

Then Jason and Michael both just enveloped Denver in and they all laughed in the beautiful moment that was created.

After they all let go, Michael, Gabbie and Jason walked with Connor asking him how he was and letting him know they were worried.

Skyle and Denver hung back as they though it best not to invade the family's space. But boy were they wrong.

When Jason realised that the Witz boys were not walking with them he turned around. "Hey boys, you coming? " He called out to them. Both of them just shifted in their position.

"We thought we'd just give you some space" Denver called out, truth is he was actually just afraid of facing Connor again and thought he'd be all embarrassed about that.

Jason walked over to them, "Nonsense" He said as he hung his hands over both of their shoulders "You're family now and you come with us" He said as he dragged them along.

They all fit in the Chevelle perfectly except for Gabbie who took the police car in which they had come back to the police station.

They ride back to the Niver house was a quiet one. But since they were all in such a good mood, the silence didn't persist.

"Seems we were rather late to the party" Skyle started glancing sideways at Denver, who turned away in embarrassment.

"Uh huh, seems we didn't get that lucky" Jason said. Michael fake coughed covering up the words "Damsel in distress" And "Prince Charming".

Connor's face was now red as a tomato as Denver tried to keep his face a straight one as he looked at the road. "We didn't miss the 'action' did we? " Skyle said doing the air quotes thing.

Jason and Michael chuckled loudly as Denver and Connor practically tried to not exist.

They reached the house soon and everybody shuffled inside.

As soon as Connor was seen walking in, the two boys ran to him and wrapped him in a big hug. He laughed as he held them strongly.

"Hello there" He smiled. "God man, we were so worried" Andy said, now releasing himself. "Yeah, me too" Adam nervously chuckled.

"But you missed the biggest part" Michael whined and they all broke into laughter.
Except Andy and Adam who though were laughing with their brother kept asking "What? " As they saw their elder brothers' faces sink in embarrassment.

Gabbei having came back now catched in on the joke. He laughed more because him too actually witnessing the scene.

When everything had died down and they had all taken a seat. The question was raised by Bee "What happened? " She asked turning to Connor.

Connor immediately became hard and the air became tensed and even though everyone was dreading the truth, they wanted to know that.

Connor cleared his throat "That day, after Denver called me, I left the station, heading home. I met him. I met Charles. He stood in front of me as he smirked, I tried to avoid him and walk away but he got a grip on my hand" He paused.

Denver clenched his fists on his lap as soon as he heard that.

"I tried to struggle against his grip but he wouldn't let go. He then forced me to come with him and told me that if I near as think about going he would uhh-" Connor stuttered and gulped "He would hurt Denver" He finished as he glanced up at his boyfriend.

"I agreed to stay with him and he wouldn't let me visit you or come home. He even wouldn't let me go to the station or to the shop to buy things. He always had me followed even when I went somewhere."

"I managed to sneak out one night and while they were all sleeping. I had to see Denver once, I just had to make sure he was okay, that they didn't hurt him badly. I didn't expect Denver to wake up but he did and I had to talk to him. "

Skyle looked at him with a longing smile and Gabbie placed a hand on his shoulder. Without any of them realising, tears streamed down Connor's face.

"They -uhh" His voice broke. "It's okay, you don't have to-" Andy started but Connor shook his head. "No it's okay" He sniffled and took a deep breath again.

"They found out and Charles got pissed. He confronted me and I apologised saying it'll never happen again. But he smiled and looked at me then he said he'll make sure it doesn't. And he orders two of his men to uhh- to hit me " Connor's voice shook as he took a shuddered breath.

Denver clenched his fists deeper as his teeth strapped and his face reeked of anger. He would just about break anything right now.

"But I couldn't resist and I had to come again. I went again inspite of my bruises and cut and that's why I was so clumsy that day " He chuckled as his saddened face looked at Denver, who held a comfort smile on his face.

"When I saw Denver the next day and all of you too. I uhh - realised that I'm being really selfish and that was not right of me to just abandon you all -"

"No Cone, you -" Denver began to make him feel that was not the case but Connor cut him off.

"Believe me Den, you would've  felt the same. So I decided to do something for it and that's why I decided I would actually fight them off and try to leave. But seems I wasn't that lucky at first and I almost got knocked out. And at last after all of them in the house were nearly or actually dead I could make it to the door. And there was Denver." Connor smiled widely at Denver who returned a grin.

"And then they fought everyone off and indulged in less innocent activities" Gabbie cut off the tension and everyone laughed.

"Well, the best thing is you're safe now and we think you should get some rest." Jason said. "Also we have work, so we're gonna skedaddle" Michael added getting up.

"Yeah us too" Skyle and Gabbie added. They all left and Denver got up "Well I better leave too" He said.

As he made his way to the door Connor changed his mind "Wait, Denver".

Denver turned around "Is it okay if I go with you, I mean you're going home right, so is it okay if I stay there with you for a while? " Connor asked timidly.

Denver was more than happy to oblige "Sure, yes" He nodded his head with a big smile.

And Connor smiled too, he walked upto Denver who held out his hand and Connor took it and they left together.
