I heard Persia whimper and shiver as we walked through the ruins, cold wind making the buildings sound like they were moaning in agony. I frowned and kneeled down to pet her.

"C'mon girl, we're almost there." I said quietly.

I stood and after a minute or two of walking, grinned. A shopping plaza. Well, it was ruins now, but the sign still stood. It was rusted and the letters faded. I leaned against it and pictured people going in and out, laughing and smiling. I pushed off from the sign and stepped over a broken trash can. The inside was more intact than the outside. A glass elevator was stuck in the middle, blood splattered from the inside. A carousel stood in the center of the plaza. I walked to it, placing my hand on a faded purple horse. I pictured children pleading to their parents and other kids laughing and smiling as they rode on their favorite animal in a circle of flashing lights and music.

Persia's bark brought me back.

She was growling and barking at something inside a store, hair rose at the center of her back. I unsheathed my twin swords and stood in front of her. She calmed slightly.

I stepped in, ready for anything. The hair on my neck rose, my senses screamed for me to leave.
Crash!

The wall beside me erupted. My ears rang, dust from the wall clouded the shop, and I had no idea which way was up.

A dark shadow shot by me, I slashed at where it was, but with no luck. I seen another and turned as a piercing pain shot from my arm, a set of teeth clamped onto my left arm. I cried out and my sword hit the ground. I instantly bashed it in the head with the butt of my other sword. I heard a whine and jabbed where the sound was coming from. I heard the unmistakable sound of a sword impaling a body and a splat of blood. When I brought the blade in front of me, blood dripped from the blade. I ignored the pain in my arm and stumbled through the cloud of dust.

"Persia?! Persia where are you?!" I yelled.

I heard a whine and seen another figure run at me, I readied myself and took a deep breath.
Persia ran out and I almost cut her in half. She panted and limped towards me.
"It's okay, girl. We are are leaving now. Let's get you fixed up, ok?" I said gently as I picked her up, softly petting her head.
