Chapter Sixteen
Chasing after the Beast in Stiles' jeep in the middle of the night wasn't on Dakota's agenda tonight but... here she was.
She was leaned forward in her seat with her arms perched on the seats on either side of her, Stiles was driving closely behind the police cars as they sped through the slick road with their sirens blaring.
She listened intently to the conversations being shared with every deputy on the scene as he drove.
"Unit Five heading northwest on Crescent reporting an incredibly large... something." Deputy Clark said into dispatch, Stiles was tuned in through his police scanner.
"Unit nine on dispatch. I think I've got eyes on the same thing." The other deputy says, "Some kind of rabid animal."
"Unite Five to Nine, trust me, that's no animal." Deputy Clark replied to him.
"Unit Six to Dispatch. We have a situation downtown." Deputy Strauss says, "Multiple fatalities."
"Copy, medics on the way. Do you have a perp in sight, Unit Six?" The deputy asked.
"Negative." Strauss replied, "Looks like a 10-91E. Animal attack."
"10-4, can say what kind of animal?" Another deputy asked.
Her eyes widened, as she grabbed her boyfriend's shoulder, "Tell them to stay away!"
Stiles grabbed at the scanner, "Already on it," Then he pressed the button, "All units stay back. Do not engage. I repeat, do not engage."
"Stiles, get off the radio." Sheriff Stilinski replied back in an instant, Stiles looked over at she an Scott but she just shrugged with a helpless nibble to her lip, "All unit alert. Wait for backup. Repeat, no one goes near this thing."
"That's good, he listened to you." Scott responds.
"Yeah, he did. Doesn't mean the other deputies are." Stiles replies with the scanner still in his hand as he one hands the wheel.
"Unit Five reporting a sighting on Hill Road southbound..." Deputy Clark informs the others.
"Unit Nine, I've got it turning off Oakridge, southbound on Beachwood..." Another deputy says.
