Chapter Three
Malia is getting used to the wheel in her grip in the front seat while Dakota is going over all the reasons why letting her drive was a bad idea.
"Dakota, your anxiety is stinking up the car." Malia says as she looks at the hazel eyed she-wolf through the rear view mirror.
Dakota snorts, "Hilarious, as if my anxiety is the only one's you smell in here."
"True." Malia replies, "But yours is the most prominent, so calm down."
"Okay." Kira sighs, "Hands on the wheel at 10:00 and 2:00." Malia moves her hands in that position on the wheel.
"Actually, the recommended position is now 9:00 and 3:00." Lydia replies correcting her, "At 10:00 and 2:00, a deployed airbag can break your thumbs."
Dakota blinks, "Those rules apply for drivers who aren't supernaturals that can heal in seconds."
"She should still save her strength." Lydia replies
Dakota huffs, "Alright, Lydia. We'll do things your way."
Lydia scoffs humorously, "As if we never do anything my way." And well, she's got a point. "And Malia please try not to scratch up your brand new car." She pauses, then reaches over to the werecoyote's hands and moves them down, "9:00 and 3:00."
After a moment Malia is starting the car and easing her foot on the gas, Kira is quick to guide her through the drive.
"Alright, just ease into it." Kira says, gently and supportively. Malia stays driving at a steady pace, not too fast and not too slow. "Good, good, okay. There you go."
Malia replies anxiously to the Kitsune, "Please, shut up."
"No problem." Kira says, "Shutting up now."
Malia starts to speed up but then the car starts veering off towards the side of the road instead of her driving in a straight line, "Malia, watch where you're going."
"Other way." Lydia says
"Other way, Mal." Kira voices anxiously
Pretty soon Malia is driving in the grass, "Malia, go back on the road."
"What?" Malia asked sounding confused
"We're off the road, this isn't the road." Lydia stressed
"Other way." Kira says
