After dropping off the Arkham Knight at  the Batcave, Kara decided to run her own investigation and get some definitive answers. When she first came to this planet, she believed that her cousin had been wrongfully locked up and put away… But with the Arkham Knight’s existence, and Diana’s violent attitude against not just the Cheetah, but towards the civilians. Her partners.

Kara rocketed straight towards the Fortress of Solitude to see Kal-El, who was with Nightwing and Black Adam trying to restore his strength to fight Brainiac.

The flight took mere moments. But she arrived to see KAl-El above the both of them while basking in the sunlamps while talking with Adam and Nightwing about possible ways to defeat Brainiac, to no avail.

“I looked over the Kryptonian databases like you asked. It doesn’t look like we missed anything. They just didn’t have an answer for Brainiac.” Nightwing informed. Taking a moment to think to himself, Kal-El sighed, sitting back in the sunlamp.

“There has to be a blindspot, a weakness. Brute force won’t be enough.” Kal concluded.

“If your powers have been restored, I should return for Kahndaq. Make sure its defenses are prepared.” Black Adam stated, catching Kal by surprise.

“Brainiac hasn’t attacked it yet?”

“The rock of eternity. It’s magic shields Kahndaq from prying eyes. Even Brainiac’s. But I don’t expect him to be fooled forever.” Black Adam clarified. As he finished informing Kal-El about how Brainiac hadn’t found his kingdom yet, Kara flew into the fortress, demanding a word with her cousin. As she landed, Kal-El dismissed his underlings, having them leave the room. Once the two were alone, Kal-El stood at Kara’s level, as though Kal saw her as an equal…

“Damian told me everything. Is Diana alright?”

“She’s fine… But.. She wanted to kill Arkham. I’ve never seen her so… Cold blooded..” Kara stated with concern…

“Yes, it’s unfortunate-”

“I know.. How could she? He isn’t.. That bad.. He tried to save people, he saved me.”

“It’s unfortunate that Diana chose now to deal with him.” Kal-El continued from where he was cut off. “More unfortunate that you stopped her.”

“Wh..What..?” Kara stumbled back a bit…

“Any ally of Batman’s, especially that former Robin, is a serious danger to keeping the world safe. If that boy held any part of Batman’s senseless morality against crime, millions will die.” Kal-El stated coldly, no longer smiling as he stood up.

“Former Robin.. Kal, innocent people are dying now! He was helping us..”

“Don’t be naive, Kara. His heartbeat, the hatred he feels towards us. He’d plan on killing either of us if given the chance. He’s a criminal. A criminal allied with Batman isn’t anything the world needs. If anything, I should have made sure the boy stayed dead.” Kal-El turned around, flying above Kara as she stepped back.

He knew...

“When I was training with Diana.. She said the Joker was assassinated.. Did.. were you..”

“I took one life to save billions.” Kal answered, narrowing his eyes a bit.

“But it wasn’t just one, Kal.. Was it? How many?” Kara asked, walking up to Kal slowly. Because he refused to answer, Kara grabbed Kal by the shoulder and turned him around, making him look her in the eyes. “How many?! Everywhere I go, people are afraid of this symbol..” she said, referring to the symbol they share. “And.. And now I know why..”

“This was never how I wanted things, but humans.. They have been killing each other for a millenia! I stopped that violence!... Humans need strong leadership. We have to save them from themselves!” Kal attempted to reason… but Kara was hearing none of it.

“Who.. Whose son are you..? Jor-El’s.. Or General Zod’s?!” Kara shouted before flying out and rocketing out of the room, leaving Kal to shout her name and demand that no one let her leave the fortress. As she flew through the glacier halls, Nightwing stood in her way, forcing her to stop in her tracks.

“Now hold on Kara!”

“I’m realizing that your father locked you up for a good reason!”

“Superman has been more of a father than Batman could ever be.” Damian began, racing toward the Kryptonian with his staff prepared for combat. Slamming the staff onto the ground, Damian launched himself toward Kara, who flew over him and grabbed his foot, throwing him away. Damian leaped off of the wall he almost hit and landed onto his feet, throwing a small explosive toward the kryptonian. It blew up, but had little effect as she charged in and slammed her fist into the ground, knocking Damian back. To keep up the pressure, Kara then flew up and used her heat vision, just to get hit in the face when Damian threw the staff at her and stood up. As Kara stood up, she was hit by a series of powerful blasts from Black Adam, allowing Damian time to escape.

Kara tried to stand up, but she was forced back down by more powerful strikes.
“You will surrender, Kara Zor-El!” Adam demanded, continuing to strike as Kara desperately tried to crawl away.

“You.. Ever since you found me.. You.. You’ve only told me half truths! Lies! All to cover up your evil!” Kara shouted, grunting as she struggled to her feet.

“You see the world as a child, Kara. Good and Evil aren’t constants. They are means used to  define those with strength!” Adam chided. Powering through the magic, Kara managed to hit Adam in the face and knock him back. As he composed himself, Kara continued to  attack, using her ice breath to freeze Adam’s hands still so he couldn’t use his magic for long. Unfortunately, Adam’s power was too much. He broke free of the ice and managed to land a strong, magic powered punch into Kara’s stomach. Knocking her back into the wall behind her, Adam continued to throw magic bolts at Kara, stunning and keeping her down until she retaliated and punched Adam in the face with enough strength to send him crashing through the fortress, keeping him down and out. Kara panted heavily and knelt to one knee, struggling to keep herself up as she tried to leave…

“Kara, please..” Kal pleaded, lowering himself to speak with his cousin. “Listen to me. People like us, We can’t hold back.. Or the people we love will suffer for it.”

“I’m sorry I wasn’t here.. That I couldn’t help you. But Metropolis wasn’t your fault!”

“I promised myself.. Never again.”

“But this isn’t who we are.. This isn’t what the House of El stood for. It isn’t ruled by fear…”

“HOPE ISN’T ENOUGH TO SAVE THE WORLD! Without me, They would all be dead!”

Kara and Kal stared at each other… Each feeling sorrow, and Kara feeling a wave of guily wash over her as Kal sighed.

“Kara, what if we could have saved Krypton?”

“I think about it every day, Kal…”

“Then join me-” Kal began, but was stopped as the earth began quaking beneath their feet…

Brainiac was extracting the cities early.
“I must go. To protect Kahndaq!” Black Adam called out. With Kal’s approval, he was allowed to leave… Letting Kal-El tell Kara that when Brainiac had been taken down, She would have to choose…
