*Dubois Mansion*

~Torin~

"Babe, did you call the flower place?" Maya asked as we sat at the dining room table with folders, binders, notebooks, and portfolio filled with wedding stuff.

"Babe?"

"Baby doll?"

"Torin, come on now."

"Torin!"

"Huh?" I snapped out of my thoughts.

"Did you call for the flower arrangements? Gosh! Pay attention." Maya said sighing as she flipped a page in the binder.

We've been going at this wedding stuff for almost six hours. I'm tired and worn out.

"What are you thinking about, anyway? It better not be about that ghetto ass girl, Ryan. I hope she signed those papers."

"Um, hopefully. I sent them off about a week ago."

"Well, have you heard anything?"

"Well, you made me block her."

"Just unblock her and block her right back. Matter of fact, give me her number. You two barely need to talk." Maya said as she rolled her eyes.

"I'll handle it, ok?"

"Boy, shut up. You can't handle nothing. Did you really think you were going to marry me to be some sister wife? You belong to me. Only me. Forget Ryan. She can rollover and die for all I care."

"Aye, you need to chill. Don't you ever wish no damn death on Ryan. I don't play about her." I said as I quickly got up.

"Excuse me?"

"You're excused. I got a test to study for. I ain't got time." I said as I walked out and slammed the office door.

"Leaving so soon?"

I turned around to see Maya's mother walking towards me.

"Yeah, I'm leaving. I got a test to study for. Have a goodnight, Mrs. Dubois."

"Ok, by the way, are you cool with the date change?"

"Date change?" I asked looked confused.

"Yes, the date change. Maya's father and I are going to Paris for a while and we can't miss our one and only baby girl's wedding. This will be her first and last wedding. You will be her forever lover. I just know it. Plus, divorces doesn't exist in our family." Her mother said smiling.

"Nice optimism, but what's the date change? Nobody ran that by me."

"We need you two to get married on next Saturday."

"Next Saturday? Ma'am, that's December 8th. That's kind of soon and feels rushed."

"I know. An even more way I can brag to the ladies at the book club. The house will already be decorated nicely, so you can get married right here in our big and beautiful back yard. You can even invite your family to stay for the weekend. It will be like a Christmas extravaganza."

"I—"

"Wonderful! I'm glad you agreed to everything. I can't wait to welcome you into your family. Remember, I'm too young to be a grandmother." Mrs. Dubois said as she smiled and walked down the hallway of their nice mansion.

I sighed.

That wouldn't be a good day at all. Only because Ryan's birthday happens to be 9th. All I would think about is Ryan.
