Amari opened her eyes, and heard a soft voice, humming to her. She looked confused, and looked around her surroundings, to see that she was dancing with a male. The same male from her dream.

"Hello darling," he cooed, one of his hands intertwined with one of hers.

"H-Hello.." she said, unsure about the situation that she was in. She felt the male's hand on her waist, gently swaying her from side to side.

"Where am I?" Amari asked, she tried looking up at the man, but it was like he blurred his face, making it hard to see his features.

"We are inside your head right now. I come here when you need me the most. And believe it or not, you've met me before." He replied.

Even though his face was blurred, Amari could still make out simple features. His face was pale, and he had shoulder-length jet black hair.

"But...I don't think I've seen you before." She said, laying her head on his chest.

"Don't worry. It won't be long before you meet me. Just be patient. " he said.

She could feel him smiling softly, and he continued to hum softly. He leaned down, and kissed her forehead lightly, before continuing to hum.

Amari closed her eyes again, wondering about what she just heard.

Beep...

Beep...

Beep...

Amari woke up and groaned. She didn't want to leave the mysterious man. She wanted to continue asking him questions. She rubbed her temples and saw mischief on her shelf. Looking out the window.

"Good morning Mischief," she smiled and stretched. Mischief meowed and leaped onto her desk that was beside her bed, onto her lap. He licked her cheek, purring when she rubbed behind his ears.

"I hoped you slept well..." she said.

He meowed, and jumped off her bed, and left the room. Amari walked to the bathroom and brushed her teeth. Her phone sent a notification, and Amari picked it up. It was Paul.

Paul: Good morning, Amari

She quickly texted back.

Amari: Good morning Paul!

Paul: did you sleep well?

Amari: for the most part, yeah, I slept well.

Paul: Ah, good to hear. I was wondering if you would like to come to the park with me. You could bring Mischief if you would like.

Amari: that's an excellent idea! I'll get ready. Meet you at 12:30?

Paul: Alrighty, meet you there

Amari turned off her phone and hopped in the shower. It's been a few months since she met paul, and she has been getting closer to him...feeling attached to him. After she was done drying herself off, she combed her tangled hair, and wrapped herself in a towel, walking to her room.

She went to her dresser and picked out a grey sweater, with a black pair of dress pants, and some dress shoes.

"Mischief!" She yelled, hearing her cat run to her.

"Hey boys, how would you like it if we went to the park with my friend?" She asked. He meowed and nodded, showing her that he wanted to go.

They walked to the kitchen and made a quick breakfast. Mischief ate his food, and jumped on the windowsill in the living room, looking out the window.

I sat on the couch, picking up a book from the bookshelf. Mischief sat beside Amari, pushing his head against her hand.

She picked him up and placed him on her lap, rubbing behind his ear, and kissing his head, between his ears.

He purred, his tail swaying from side to side. She read out loud. she felt mischief purr against her stomach, making her stomach vibrate. She smiled and looked at the time.

12:20

"Oh crap-" she shouted, putting the book on the coffee table, and picked up mischief. He yowled from the sudden movements and noises. "I'm sorry boy, but we have to go!" Amari said, grabbing her keys. She ran to her car, and practically threw Mischief into the car, and drove to the park. She parked her car, and picked up mischief, holding him up to her chest.

"I know I'm sorry Mischief. I didn't want to be late," Amari said, trying to calm down mischief, who was hissing at her. She kissed in between his ears, knowing that it would calm him down.

He purred and went quiet. Amari spotted Paul, picking up a lily that was on the ground.

"Hello Paul," Amari said, walking up to him. "Well, hello Amari, you look lovely today," Paul said, giving her a contagious smile. "Well, you look quite dashing yourself!" Amari giggled.

Paul looked at Mischief. "Is this the mischievous cat you were talking about?" He asked. "Yes, Mischief say hi!" Amari said, lifting mischief to Paul. Mischief hissed and squirmed under her grip.

"Hm, he usually isn't like this," Amari said, pulling mischief back to her. "It's quite alright, animals don't like me anyway," Paul said, rubbing the back of his neck. We both sat on the bench, watching mischief chase after a bird.

Amari looked over to Paul's hand and saw a ring. "Are you married?" Amari asked, fidgeting with her hands.

Paul looked sad and looked at Amari.

"I was.." he said, looking down at the ground.

"O-Oh, I'm sorry to ask-"

"No no, It's alright. I would have to tell you eventually. She died a couple of years ago. She had breast cancer." Paul said, tears filling his eyes. "I'm sorry for your loss.." Amari said, rubbing Paul's back.

O/A/N: Boy, WHAT? WHAT THE FUCK WAS I THINKING WHILE WRITING THIS?-

"Thank you. I always take my ring with me. It reminds me of her." He said softly, a tear rolling down his cheek.

Amari wiped the tear away, cupping one side of his cheek with her hand.

He smiled softly. "I'm always here for you Paul," Amari said quietly. Paul lifted her hand, and kissed her knuckles, making her blush. Amari played her head on Paul's shoulder and sighed softly.

Mischief was laying on a tree branch on a tree, looking down on Amari and Paul, holding hands and cuddling. Mischief Was practically pouring with jealousy.

He wanted Amari all to himself. And not even Paul would get in his way. So he decided to create a scheme.
