"So, have you been in a relationship recently?" Paul asked, rubbing the back of his neck nervously.
"Well, no, I can't say that I have," Amari replied, fidgeting with her sweater.
"Wait really? You haven't been in one relationship?" Paul asked astonished look on his face.
"Nah, I mean, men would flirt with me, and give me their numbers even after I told them I wasn't interested. " Amari explained.
"Hm, I see," Paul said, looking like he was thinking about something.
"Then why did you agree to go to the park with me? Why didn't you reject me as you did with all the other men?"
"Hm...well, first off, you seem interesting. At least you had the decency to meet me, and get to know me before giving me your number. And you are good looking after all." Amari said, looking at the ground.
"You...think I'm attractive?" He asked in disbelief.
"Well yeah, I'm sure you already knew that though," Amari said, looking up at Paul.
He smiled softly and reached to hold Amari's hand. She let him and sighed softly.
"Wait...where's Mischief?" Amari asked, looking around in a panic. "I swore I saw him a second ago-"
Amari looked up at a tree to see mischief laying on a branch, looking down on Amari and Paul. "Oh my gosh, Mischief get down from there! It's dangerous!" Amari pleaded, running up to the tree. Paul followed, looking at the tree. Mischief hissed, and stayed where he was.
Amari began to climb the tree and slowly went to the thick part of the branch that mischief was at. "Amari, I don't think that's a good idea-"
Before Paul could finish his sentence, the branch snapped, making Amari slip and fall. Before she hit the ground, she felt warm arms catch her bridal style. She looked up to see that Paul was holding her, his face was close to hers. She could feel his mint breath on her lips, and she smelt his cologne, making her blush.
"Oh my, Amari are you alright?!" Paul asked worryingly. "U-Uh yeah, I-I'm fine.." Amari said, feeling her cheeks burn up.
Mischief landed on the bush and jumped to the ground. He saw Paul holding Amari close to him and was even more jealous than he was before. So he went up to Paul and scratched his leg, making Paul trip and fall on his back.
Now Amari was on top of Paul, her hands on his chest. They stared for a good minute, before Amari got up, brushing off some dirt and grime.
She held her hand up to Paul, and he accepted it, standing up.
"Mischief, what has gotten into you?!" Amari scolded, crossing her arms. He hissed in reply, shooting Paul's dirty looks. "He is a trouble maker huh?" Paul said, trying to make light of the situation.
Paul winched in pain, and sat on the grass, revealing a huge scratch on his leg. "Oh my gosh, Paul are you okay?!" Amari asked, kneeling to Paul, seeing blood rush out of the cut.
"Y-yeah, It's just a little scratch-"
"Um, no, that's a HUGE scratch. Come on, I have some medical supplies at my house." Amari said, lifting Paul by his arm.
"I don't think that's necessary-"
"Nope, I'm not taking no for an answer," Amari said, helping Paul walk to her car. "This is your car?" Paul asked. "Well, yeah?" Amari replied, opening the passenger door, and Paul went inside. "Mischief, come on," Amari said, opening the back door, and mischief hesitantly jumped inside the car.
