A Blowout

Karrie's POV:
"Dad I don't want to go" I whined and he rolled his eyes

"Shut up, wear the goddamn suit, and go to the car" he said and walked to the garage. I groaned and wore the suit before he gets angrier.

My dad is forcing me to come with him to his company because he doesn't want to leave me alone after I threw a party. It wasn't even a full-blown party but apparently that was already big enough to ground me and force me to come to the company. A place which I terribly hate because of it's mundanity.

I got in the car beside dad and our driver, Lewis started driving. "I would prefer to stay with grandma and grandpa"

"I would prefer if you shut up" he said and I rolled my eyes

"What if I won't? Will you leave me at home?" I asked and he glared at me

"You're already 18, Karrie. Why do you still act reckless?" He asked me and I scoffed

"Dad, adulthood is developed and will not just pop out on my 18th birthday. Seriously, did you think that I would suddenly become serious once the clock hit 12 AM?"

"Well I expected you to at least be more serious in life" he said

"Tough luck dad. I don't want to be just like you" I said. "You're constantly pressuring me to become basically you which means throwing out my social life and focusing on work. Well, I don't want to do that. I want to have fun and have a life outside work unlike you"

"I do have a life outside work. You" he said and I scoffed again

"No you don't. You treat me like an employee that you want to shape to be the next CEO. You care more about your company than me, you care about money more than anything, and you remember your scheduled meetings with other people but not your son's birthday" I said

"I do remember your birthday" he said

"No you don't. Lewis here told me that he had to remind you of my birthday so that you'll come home early that night instead of working" I said. "If you really care about me, you would let me do what I want"

"You know I can't let you do everything you want to do" he said

"Because you don't care about me" I muttered

"I do—"

"Sirs, we here" Lewis said and parked in the underground garage. I got out before dad could speak and immediately went in the elevator. Once I reached the top floor, Grace, dad's secretary was already waiting.

"Oh Karrie! I haven't seen you for a while now" she hugged me and I hugged her back. She was my nanny when I was very much younger and she's really nice. "How are you? You should come by more often. Last time I saw you was 5 months ago"

"I'm fine" I said. "Dad forced me to come here because he's afraid that I'll throw another party at home"

"That's how he is unfortunately" she said and we laughed. "If you need anything, don't hesitate to tell me okay? If you need food, I can grab some for you"

"Actually do you have any champagne?" I asked

"In your father's own pantry, I think he has some. Do you want me to grab a bottle?" She asked and I nodded

"Yes please. Thank you Grace" I said and she smiled before going to the CEO's personal pantry. I went to dad's main office and used my phone as I waited for the champagne.

After a while, dad, Lewis, and Grace entered the room. "It's too early for champagne"

"It's too late to act like you care" I said. "Thank you" I said to Grace and she nodded before walking out of the room. I filled the glass with champagne and drank some. "That's nice. Do you want some Lewis?"
