Chapter 8

The warm early summer sun shined down on the ground, making the concrete warm, but not to the point where it would burn your feet if you weren't careful. It seemed like an average early summer morning, well, almost.

Edgar stared out his bedroom window, a bored expression plastered on his face, just staring out at the sky, watching the clouds move ever so slightly across the sky. A quiet sigh escaped past his lips, his parents were busy, but he didn't know what they were busy with, all he knew was that they had a lot of boxes, for what though?

That's when his older siblings Charlotte and Jade walked into his bedroom. Charlotte was wearing a king-like outfit, a small plastic crown on her head, a stick in her hand that she had found outside, and her parent's rings all on her fingers. Jade on the other hand was wearing a blue queen-like dress, a much larger plastic crown on her head, a colorful blanket hanging off her shoulders, and a fake pearl necklace around her neck.

" Play with us! " Jade exclaimed, a wide smile on her face " We're making the boys play with us too! And we want you to join us! " She then held up two outfits, one that looked like it was for a prince, and the other looked like it was for a princess. " We picked these out ourselves! And we want you to pick one! "

Edgar blinked as he looked at both of the outfits, back and forth, back and forth. His eyes seemed extremely fixated on the beautiful queen-like outfit. The bright silver-blue jewels that studded the shoulders and sleeves, the fluffy looking ruffles on the bottom of the outfit, and the lilac color itself was eye catching. Raising a hand, he pointed at the queen-like outfit, his lips curling into a smile.

Charlotte and Jade practically squealed in excitement as they threw the other king-like outfit onto Edgar's bed, they helped their sibling into the queen outfit, thankfully it it, although it was a bit big, so the shoulder pieces hung off his shoulders.

The 3 siblings then went to Charlotte & Jade's room, where they grabbed a bright red wagon from the closet, where they placed their snacks and their juice pouches. They all then made their way through the living room, down the ladder that led to the main entrance/exit, just before they left, Jade yelled out " We're going outside to play! We'll be inside later! Au revoir! " and just like that, the children went outside to play.

 " En Garde! En Garde! " Micheal exclaimed, holding a stick out like a sword, pointing it at Jade, who was also holding a stick like a sword " En Garde! En Garde! " The two then ran towards each other and began to sword fight, hitting each other repeatedly with the sticks.

Charlotte and Felix were picking up rocks and placing them in rags that they had taken from their bathroom that they no longer used. They were planning on using these rags as either slingshots or as small purses for said rocks they were picking up.

" Does Maman and Papa know about us playing outside? Did anyone tell them? " Felix asked as he picked up a small white stone. Charlotte nodded " Oui. I told them! They know that we're all outside playing! " Felix let out a quiet sigh of relief as he picked up more and more small rocks and placed them in the rag.

Edgar simply sat in the red wagon that his siblings had brought out of their room. He held a small yellow flower in his hand, he seemingly picked it out of the grass and was just holding it. He really didn't seem too focused on what his siblings were doing, he was just admiring the small yellow flower he had clutched in his hand.
