"Once upon a time there was a beautiful princess who lived in a big castle. But she lived there alone and was therefore very bored. She was only waiting for a brave prince to come to her rescue.
One day a handsome young prince came to the castle, and..."
...
"Blue! Are you even listening? I agreed to do something else than learning you manners, but then you have to listen, instead of letting your thoughts wander. You will not get any smarter from that," the strict lady, early in her forties, said.

"I am sorry ma'am. I did not mean to offend you," Blue answered, her body in the room, but her mind a whole other place.

The lady's face softened up, and she let a smile replace the angry look she had worn before. "It is okay. You just have to learn to pay attention. The king can not use a royal guard that does not pay attention to her work."

"First of all, he is only a prince, not a king yet. Secondly, I am still only ten. I will have plenty of time learning to pay attention," Blue said. She quickly added: "Ma'am"

"What have I told you about calling me ma'am. I am your mother, so you should call me mother."

"That's a lie," Blue blurted out. "I am sorry. I mean that it is not the truth. I have never met my mother, nor will I ever. she left me when I was still a baby, but you can not claim to be my mother, just because it is your job to raise and teach me about life."

"I will not have this discussion with you again, young lady. Class is dismissed."

And with these words Edda, that was the name of the woman, left the room. Blue sat there all alone, but she was not lonely. She had always loved to be alone. The silence was her favorite part. She could finally think, without having to listen to Eddas constant gossip about people she didn't even know who was.

Blues's POV

I looked at the clock, on my nightstand. An hour until practice. This was always my favorite part of day.
When I am training. I know I am in my right element, when I am holding a sword, a bow or one of the other many weapons, in my hands.

I walked across my room and stopped in front of the mirror. I looked at my self. I am not an ugly girl. Actually some people would probably claim that I am beautiful.
I am tall for my age. I have long blue hair, that is where I got my name, and it ends at my waist.
My face is slim and my skin has a light color. My lips are thin. And red. Just as my eyes. My eyes are the most noticeable thing about me. They are red. Bright burning red, and they are pretty big.

I looked at the clock again. Only fifty minutes to go. Luckily, I have no problem, finding something to spend my time on. I just pick up one of my many books. I love reading. Always have, but for some reason, I just can not concentrate every time Edda tries to teach me something new.

Well, I thought, why not get ready for practice, and then start reading a book.

I looked in my dresser, for clothes and decided to go in a sleeveless grey top, and black loose fitting pants. I put my hair in a braid, and went to get a book.

Eddas POV

I do not know why I got so angry when she told me that. Maybe it was the ice in her voice, or her read burning eyes. Whatever it was, it always made me feel uncomfortable, when she shouted at me like that.

This girl was moody, she did not care about her education, she refused to take orders and she used all her time reading. This girl would not be able to be a royal guard.

I need to discuss this with Charles, because otherwise, I do not know what to do.
