Blue's POV

Tomorrow it is my 11th birthday.

The last year I had been training hard, defeating Erik almost every day. Training was easy for me now. All I wanted was to go somewhere new, but it had been me forbidden, until I turned twelve.

"Class is dismissed for today. Go get ready for training, Erik is most likely already waiting for you," Edda said.

"Yes, Ma'am"

"..."

"I am not gonna call you mother, you know that," I said, "right?"

"I was hoping you had changed your mind."

I laughed loudly, and quickly decided to go look for some fitting clothes.

I choose a white wrinkled crop top, with long blue sleeves that were puffy at the top, and slim at the end.
I also decided to wear a pair of white shorts with a blue stripe on each hip. I wore a brown leather belt with the shorts.
For the shoes I wore brown sandals with long strings, I could tie around my legs.

I made my hair, now going all the way down to my hips, into a braid.

Finished, I thought, and went for the training room. When I got there, the first thing I noticed, was the fact that Erik was missing. Erik usually used all his time in the yard, so it was a big surprise to me when he wasn't there.

I can probably take advantage of this, I thought, and I began looking around. No one else was out here, so the only noise I could hear was the birds twitter.

At the other side of the yard there was a door. Erik said I could under any circumstances, not enter the door, but I was way too curious. I mean seriously. If he tells me not to enter it, I am just going to want to enter it even more.

I slowly approached the door. I put my ear against it. Nothing could be heard on the other side, so I turned the knob, and opened the door. On the other side of the door there was a long hallway, and at the end of it, an other door. I went into the hallway and closed the door after me. I moved to the other side of the hallway, ears sharp, if anyone were to come.

When I opened the door at the end of the hallway, a sight met me that I had not expected. At all. I thought it might be a servants quarters, but instead, it was a yard. It was similar to the yard I came from, but it was a little smaller.

In the middle, a girl with flaming red hair, was shooting arrows at a target. She had not heard me open the door, but when I stepped in, she heard me immediately.

"Who are you?," she asked, with a suspicious look on her face.

"Are you a servant?" she asked again.

My mouth finally decided to open, and I answered: "I am no servant. My name is Blue, and I was just about to ask you the sane question."

"Blue... that is just like me. My name is Red," she answered.

I was really shocked at that moment. "But... I thought I was the only one," I managed to say.

"Oh... Well you are not. I am here too. So... Are you also an orphan who was raised to serve the king?" She asked me, a tint of suspicion remaining in her voice.

"Yes, I was. They manipulated my hair, gave me a new mother, and taught me to fight. That's pretty much my life in a nutshell."

"Well, we have similar lives. My story is the same as yours."

The next question she asked really surprised me. It was the last question I would have thought of.

"Have you ever considered having a real name? I mean instead of Blue. Because that is not really a name."

And yes, I must admit that the thought crossed my mind. Several times, even. However I would never betray the people that had given me my current 'name', by taking a new one.

Then it occurred to me. I did not even know who those people were.
