Eddas POV

When I got to the big double doors, I stopped and relaxed my breath. I pulled myself together and knocked the door.

"Yes," a voice said on the other side of the door.

I entered the room and saw Charles sit behind his desk.

"How is it going Edda. Everything all right with Blue?"

"That is actually what I am here to discuss with you. Blue is... not a warrior. Nor will she ever be one! She refuse to take any orders and she does not care about anyone, but herself. Besides, I highly doubt she will ever be able to actually kill someone. She uses all her time reading, for gods sake. Not like Black or Red who uses all their time training.
I think the only thing she would be able to kill, is a fly. I don't know how you will have these children..."

"Relax Edda," Charles interrupted the never ending stream of words, coming from Eddas mouth. "She will be just fine. Have you seen her train? She is a masterpiece."

"But... of course I have not seen her train. I am her educator, and her temporary mother, but I still need breaks. I can not use all my time watching her," Edda answered.

"If you had seen her train, you would know that she is doing great. Stop being so concerned about everything. Have your break. We will take care of the girl if you do not feel like doing it anymore."

I could hear that the conversation was over, and I left the room. Of course I am not gonna leave Blue. I have known her for ten years now, and I honestly haven't got anywhere else to go.

*******

I stopped in front of two big doors. I had been walking in my own thoughts and I had not even noticed that I was heading for the training yard, until I stood before the entrance.

Well, it won't hurt to take a quick look, now that I am here anyway.

I opened one of the big wooden doors, and stepped outside into the courtyard. I shivered when the chilly wind met me. I could hear the sound of steel hitting steel. Sword fight.

Blue's POV

I heard the creaking sound of the doors being opened, but I didn't have time to look who it was. Erik kept attacking me with his sword, and I was not gonna lose the fight.

I raised my sword as Erik had taught me, and swung it at his head. His sword crashed down into mine, and I jumped back quickly, ready to attack again. Erik swung his sword at my right arm, I dodged, and attacked again. The blades made contact, and the sound was overwhelming.

Erik's breath was coming short and sharp. He struck again and again. Our swords hit each other with tremendous speed and power.

Erik's face was now turning slightly red, and I myself began to breathe a little faster. I could hear the noise of people shouting at Erik, that he was no man if he couldn't beat a little girl like me.

I am gonna show them what I am capable of. I thought

I met every blow Erik threw at me, but he still managed to drive me into a corner. I duck at his sudden attack, and almost danced back into the spot we had started.

Erik turned around, and his face looked shocked. He hadn't thought I was gonna be able to get out of that.
I could feel my arms starting to burn slightly. My body still wasn't used to training too long with real weapons at a time.
I pressed my sword down on his, steel grating on steel.

Erik was slowing down and his arms were shaking slightly.

"You are growing tired, Erik. You are my teacher. Can you imagine it. The student, who has only been training with real weapons for two months, is beating the teacher, who has been training his whole life."

I began laughing. I did not know why I found it so hilarious, but nevertheless I starting laughing wildly.

Erik stopped for a second, looking at me as if I was mentally ill. Then he shouted: "Don't loose focus just because you think you are winning! "

"I don't think I am winning," I laughed, "I am winning."

But I still stopped laughing and began focusing instead. I was growing bored with the fight, and wanted to end it.
I started aiming blows at his head and shoulders, so fast that he hardly got his sword up to protect himself. I landed a final blow against his sword and the room was silent, except from the sound of the sword hitting the floor.

I had defeated him. A smile grew on my face.
The people that had been watching began to clap loudly.

Erik picked up his sword and headed against me, but instead of attacking me, he put his hand on my shoulder and said: "Good work today Blue. You are improving so much every time we train" And then he smiled at me. That certainly wasn't a commonly seen sight.

"Thank you Erik."

"I think someone wants to speak with you," he said.

I looked around confused. In the middle of the crowd was Edda. She had probably been watching the whole fight, and now she was here to give me a lecture about how dangerous sword fighting is.

I walked over to her, but she didn't lecture me. instead she just smiled widely.

"You are amazing," she said.

"I... thank you."

She smiled at me one last time and then she just left the courtyard.
I turned around, and saw that the servants had returned to their work.

"Your class is dismissed. Go back to your room and get some rest, okay?" Erik shouted across the yard.

I nodded, and went to remove my armor. I put it in my box. It was blue, of course. Everything I owned, that I hadn't specifically asked for, was blue. To the people that took me in, it might have been funny. To me it was more of a sick joke, than anything else. They didn't have to remind me, that I was nothing. I didn't even have a name.

Stopping for a second, I realized that the sound of another fight could be heard. I quickly turned around, curious to see who it was. Surprisingly enough, the sound didn't come from this courtyard. It wasn't the first time I had heard fighting sounds from other parts of the castle, I just did not know who made them. I liked to think that there were other people in the castle like me. Being raised to be a guard, but Edda would probably have told me then, so I don't get too high hopes.

I left the courtyard, dropping the thought, and headed for my room. I met two servants on the way. The second they saw me they started whispering. My guess was, that they were talking about the fact that I beat Erik. He was very popular amongst the servants, even the younger ones, weird because he is pretty old... Well, it can not be denied that he is pretty decent looking, but I still did not get it. Back to the point. If anything happened at the castle, where both Erik and I were present, all the servants and guards would know of the story about ten minutes after it had happened.

When I got to my room, I immediately got some clean clothes and a towel, and went to my bathroom. The servants had readied a bath for me, something they always did after my training. I stripped my clothes off and slowly sank into the water.

The water was burning hot, it almost felt like I was melting, but it was a great feeling. I played with they soap bobbles for a while, but when the water began cooling, I washed myself clean of the sweat from practice.

When I was finished I dried myself and put on a dress. It was dark blue, as the ocean at night. It had slim straps and a white ribbon around the waist.

Pretty

I looked at the clock. It was seven o'clock. The servants should be here with my dinner any minute now. I almost didn't finished my thoughts before it knocked at my door.

"Your dinner is her Miss," a servant called from the other side of the door

"Yeah... come in then," I answered back.

The servants brought me plates of delicious food, but I choose to simply eat salad and a little meat.

When the servants had left, I read. That was all I had to do. All I could do, until the day came where I turned twelve. Edda had told me, that when that happened, I finally got to leave my restricted area, and see something new.
