Blue's POV
The arrow hit the target with a hollow sound. I was afraid to look at the target, so I looked at Red instead. Her face was surprised, and her mouth half open.
"You hit the center."
What
I looked at the target, and she was right. I had hit the target exactly in the center.
"Congratulations. You won, " she said, and surprisingly, there was no anger or jealousy in her voice. "Want to have a challenge in something else?"
"No, thanks," I answered her question, "I think I should be headed back. I am not supposed to be here after all."
Red grimaced and shrugged at me. "But you will need a price from being the first to ever defeat me."
"I... really do not need anything. If I can just lea..."
"I have an idea," Red interrupted me loudly. "You said that you had thought about getting a name, but that you would't do it, because you would not know what to call yourself, right?"
I reluctantly nodded.
"Well, your price from beating me, is that I will give you a name. Yeah...
I definitely will. Meet me here tomorrow, and then I will have thought of something."What is she thinking?! We can not betray the king like that. By giving me a name she will break all of the rules. But, the more she is talking about giving me a name, the more tempting it becomes.
"But..." I answered, not knowing how to end the sentence.
"No buts. Tomorrow at the same time, at the same place. Okay?"
"I shall try."
I had given up on persuading her, and gave in to her wish. Then I got an idea.
"If you are going to be giving me a name," I said "Then I will be giving you a name, as well."
Red looked at me, as if that had been her plan all along.
"As you wish," she giggled.
I turned around, heading for the door. When I got to the door, I turned around and looked for Red, but she had already returned to her training.
I opened the door and went into the hall. I noticed a small window, that I had not seen before. Outside, the sun was already starting to go down. I had been there longer than I meant to.
When I got to the end of the hallway, I put my ear against the door, but I could not hear anything, and opened it. No one was in the court yard, not even Erik. I tiptoed through the yard, not wanting anyone to find out where I had been.
When I got to the double doors I opened them, and ran through the halls. If I was going to name Red something good, I needed to start thinking immediately.
When I got to my room, I quickly changed clothes. The second I thought about go looking for Edda, to get her help, she burst into my room.
"Young girl, where have you been the last few hours? We were not able to find you. Where you hiding?"
I shook my head. "I am here now, do not worry too much. You will get wrinkles."
Edda gasped, quickly walked to my mirror, and examined herself closely. She checked her face for wrinkles, but she apparently did not find any, because she left the mirror, and sat down on my bed.
"Hey Edda," I said, "What is the most beautiful name you can think of?"
"Hmm... I would say... Heaven, probably. Why?"
Heaven. That would be perfect for her. She really felt like a Heaven. Yes.
I had already decided. From tomorrow on, Red was gonna be called Heaven.
I ignored Edda, and when she got sufficiently tired of me, she left the room.
The whole night I was wondering about what name Red, I mean Heaven, would give me.
*********
I must have fallen asleep at last, because I woke up in the morning, although it was a lot later than usually.
Today was my day off. At least from school, I still had training, but that was not until later. I got out of bed, and went to bathe. The water in the bathtub, was very hot and relaxing, and I immediately felt refreshed.
I finally got some clothes on, and went to the court yard. I did not have anything to do today anyway, so I figured I might as well train some more.
The moment I stepped into the yard, I felt something was wrong. Erik was missing. Again. It was unusual for Erik to spend time anywhere besides the yard, so the fact that he had not been here for two straight days, worried me.
Nevertheless, I picked up a sword from my blue box, and started practicing my blows.
Around noon, I put my stuff away. I was tired after the practice, but also very exited to see Heaven again.
I went for the door, and quickly got to the door that separated the hall, from her training room. I opened it, and saw her standing in the middle of the room, practicing with some knives.
She heard me the second I stepped inside, and turned around. A wide smile spread across her face.
"You came back"
"Of course I did. I must admit that I am curious to hear what you have thought of," I answered.
"I think you are gonna love it, but you have to tell me my name first."
Sure. That is not a problem.
"Well, I considered it, and I have decided that your name should be, well... Heaven"
She looked stunned. Then tears started forming in her eyes.
"I am so sorry. Is something wrong," I quickly asked her.
"No, that's not it. I am just so happy. No one has ever really done anything like that for me."
She dried her eyes, and said: "Ready to get your name"
I nodded and she continued: "Well then. Your name from now on is gonna be Isobel"
