Isobel's POV
"Good morning. Sorry I'm so late."
I closed the door to the courtyard behind me. This morning Edda had insisted on using a few more hours for school.
These last weeks I had mostly been training, and Edda was a little annoyed. She still looked at me as her mother, and teacher."Ah don't worry 'bout it. We heard from Erik, that your mom held you busy." Leona answered.
"Yeah... she's quite something."
"Oi girls. We have something to celebrate," It was Faith, "It's been exactly three months since we met."
She squealed.
Heaven and I looked at each other. And laughed.

After practice I went to see Thomas. For a week now, I had done so after training. He had found me, a week ago, and had asked me to report what we were doing. If things were working out properly.
I don't know why he asked me to do it, and not someone else, but I was a little honored. Just a little. When I arrived at Thomas' door, it was already open. I looked inside before entering. No one was there.
The room was full of shelves, and every shelve was full of books.
Thomas had noticed how I stared at them, the first time I was there. He had asked me if I liked books, and I told him, that it kind of was my passion. He had then told me, that these books were completely off limits. I had been curious, but I resisted asking any questions.
Now that he wasn't here, my curiosity was killing me. I wanted to read them. Why were they off limits? Were there any secrets in them? Of course there is, I thought to myself. They wouldn't be off limits if there weren't any secrets. The question was what the secrets were. Maybe there was something in the book about me.
At the last thought I stood up. I needed to know who I was. I had always wanted to know more about my identity, but not until I got a name, and met the girls, I became aware of how strong the urge was.
I peeked outside the door. No one there. I took a deep breath, and closed the door.
Pull yourself together. You can do this.
I quickly glanced at the book titles. There were books about everything academic. Plants, metals, even maps over other countries.
One book caught my attention. It was called 'fairy tales from this century'.
It doesn't exactly fit the whole scientist vibe the books have been giving, so far.
I was lost in thought, so I didn't notice that I had already taken down the book.
Okay, let's see what it's about.
At that moment, I heard footsteps. And they were getting close. Before thinking it through, I grabbed the book, and stormed out the door. Thomas' surprised face met me.
"Oh," he said, "You were in there"
Obviously yes
"I'm sorry that I am late. I was at a meeting with Charles and some other adults you don't know. Are you ready to make the report?"
I was hiding the book behind my back. If I was lucky he wouldn't notice it.
I shook my head: "I am sorry, but I have some things to do."
He looked oddly at me. He knew I did not have things to do.
"Well off you go then," he said. He probably knew that I had done something. I was just hoping he wouldn't notice what until I had examined, and read, the book.
Why, I did not know, but I had a feeling about the book. Something was off about it.I turned around, and ran, before he would change his mind.
*********
Back at my room, I finally opened the book. The first pages were about fairy tales. Very normal. I was a little disappointed.
When I turned the next page, I became extremely surprised. Inside the book was carved a square, and in it was another book. The book didn't have any title. I removed the title-less book, from the fairy tale one.
How can you get yourself to cut into a book like that. Books are precious, and shouldn't be hurt in any kind of way.
A little annoyed, because of the cruelty, I opened the title-less book. The first thing that met me was a date.
It was a diary.
