The delicate smell of fresh roses from the garden went from reality to imaginary as the opposite side of the bed from the fellow remained vacant. Halfway under the bed covers, he placed both of his hands on his jungle-grown chest. He felt so out of place without his other half in bed with him. Small bits of conversations could be heard from downstairs. They intrigued him so much that he had to get out of bed to check it out for himself, or just to be plain-out nosey.
Downstairs was his fiancée, Amina, who sat at the dining room table, effortlessly holding her clear cup breakfast smoothie which consisted of blueberries, bananas, strawberries, ice, and oat milk. A smile formed on her face as she turned around to see her fiancé, Eli, walking towards her with a huge hug while continuing to be shirtless.
"Your hairy chest is all over my face." Amina laughed to the love of her life while a smoothie rested in one hand and her phone resting in the other.
Smirking at her, Eli thought in his head: Well, you love this hairy chest...
Resuming to the phone call, Amina ends it quickly, informing the woman that she was talking to that she would see her later in the day.
"Who was that," Eli questioned her as he took a seat on the dining room table, "was that Daniella?"
"That is the last time that we pick someone from the gym... They turn into stalkers..." she told the truth to him.
Not agreeing with her statement, Eli ignored his fiancée as he grabbed the smoothie from her hand, taking a sip out of it.
"So refreshing..." he complimented the smoothie.
Repulsed at him for gulping all over her morning snack, Amina aggressively removes it from his hand, kindly returning sipping the tastebud-tingling delight. Jealous of her snack, Eli jumped from the table. He kissed the woman of his life as he quickly got over their little, unnecessary dispute over a smoothie.
"So, Mr. Coleman," she placed the empty cup on the table as she gave him a grin, "what do you have planned after work today?"
Placing both of his hands on the side of his green colored, tight trunks, Eli tried to refresh his mind to see what his Monday schedule was like. He reminded Amina about his little high school reunion that was happening Tuesday.
"I'm all free after work today," he continued, "you can come with me tomorrow to the reunion. You were apart of that class...even though how hard you pretend that you weren't... Look, it's nothing major...like the whole school or anything. Just a selected few messaged me from a Facebook group chat. It's something little, nothing special or anything."
Slowly trying to change his mind as she got up from the dining room chair, Amina grabbed Eli by his waist, pulling him in closer to her. Her face was at his hairy chest, so she had to look up at him as if he was a loud helicopter hovering over her.
"Just miss this one event," she hoped he gave in, "I want to spend some time with my fiancé...especially since the gym is closed tomorrow."
Although how much Amina begged and begged for him to take a break off, Eli didn't feel the urge to do that, even with Amina looking up at him with her puppy-dog eyes. At that moment, she knew her skill wasn't going to work on him. No matter what she said, no matter what she did, he was going to the high school reunion no matter what...but why?
"Although we live in the same town for years, I haven't seen those guys in a while," he admitted to Amina, "our schedules have been so busy that...that...we forget about each other for years."
