Meteor shower, quick, take cover,
Without warning, the fireworks began. Yeonhee flinched away in shock. The bright colors exploded overhead, bathing their faces in red, gold, blue, green, purple.
Despite the thunderous cracks of the fireworks, Yeonhee couldn't stop smiling. They were so beautiful. Her eyes were drawn to the bright blue flares especially. She really did love that color. It reminded her of Jaeyun. Soothing and beautiful and bright.
But the hues in our hair complement one another.
Jake's eyes were fixed on Yeonhee. The bursts of color raining from the sky illuminated her happy face, and brought out the cool tints of dark blue in her raven hair.
He'd never noticed it before, but the warm orange undertones in his own coffee hair complemented her blue-tinted waves. The two of them looked good together, didn't they?
The boy swallowed back the lump in his throat. It was all he could do from reaching out and smoothing her hair away from her face.
I'd sell my own bones for sapphire stones, 'cause blue's your favourite colour.
He could barely take his eyes off of Yeonhee. His gaze shifted down their interlocked fingers, and to the shell she still caressed in her other hand. It was just a seashell, but she treated it like it was something so fragile and priceless.
Jake felt something pinch at his heart. Yeonhee treasured every tiny thing, yet the girl couldn't see how special she was herself. I love you, Yeonhee, the boy whispered in his head. No matter what you think of yourself.
He would do anything for her.
