Surprising Turn-Of-Events

A month has passed since Taehyung's panic attack And there were a lot of changes around his life...

He has already warmed up to his Jin and Namjoon hyungs and has already met his adorable niece, Areum.

Jimin is now his new best friend who has been going out on dates with his Yoongi hyung.

He and Jungkook have been spending a lot of time together as the latter always hangs out at Yoongi's place where Taehyung lives. There's nothing going on though...not yet, at least.

Everything was going so well until one day, while Taehyung was hanging out with Jungkook, Jimin and Yoongi hyung, he got a call from an unknown number.

Before picking up the call Taehyung glances at Yoongi and the latter noticed.  Taehyung gave him a knowing look and Yoongi rolled his eyes knowing what the younger meant.

Since Jungkook's eyes were always fixed on Taehyung, the odd interaction between the two didn't go unnoticed by him.

Taehyung stepped out of the living room and went to the balcony to take the call.

T:  Hello?
??: Taehyung hyung?
T: Beo-Beomgyu?!
B: How have you been hyung? We miss you back here.
T: Beom, you're talking to me. You're not mad at me?
B: Hyung, I was never mad at you. How many times do I have to tell you that you did nothing wrong. What happened to Yeonjun was an accident.

Taehyung closed his eyes and shook his head trying to push back the unpleasant memory from resurfacing.

B: You have to stop blaming yourself, hyung.
T: I'm trying, Beom. Is everything ok back there? How are the others?
B: Actually, hyung there's a reason why I called you.
T: What is it?
B: Your father has put together a team and not a friendly one at that.  He asked me to call you to tell you that it's payback time.  He's challenging us hyung. He said he wants his money back.
T: Just ignore him, Beom. I'm never coming back to Daegu. I'll be putting all your lives at risk if I come back.
B: There's one problem, hyung. He's not planning to do the race here. He's bringing his team to Seoul. He knows you're there and he also said that if you don't want anything to happen to Jin hyung, to think twice before saying no.
T: That fucking bastard. I hate him. I swear I'm going to end him this time.
B: Hyung, the boys and I are coming there and you can't stop us.  I know you need us, so we'll be there for you.
T: Ok, Beom. Thank you. Let's talk when you get here.
B: We will see you soon, hyung.

Taehyung ended the call when he turned around, he found Jungkook standing at the balcony door.

"Is everything okay, Tae?"

"Peachy," Taehyung said with a fake smile.

"Didn't sound okay to me."

"It's a long story, Kook.  Sorry, I don't think I'm ready to talk about my past yet. I hope you understand." Taehyung said looking down.

Jungkook raised Taehyung's chin up.

"Whenever you're ready, Tae. You know I'm just right here. Just tell me if you need help with anything."

Taehyung suddenly had a light-bulb moment and looked at Jungkook.

"Actually, there's something that you can do for me."

"Name it."

"Bring me to your next race."

"What?! Why?"

Taehyung mentally cursed. Stupid, Taehyung! Now, how do you answer that question?  You can't tell him that you need to gather information and  familiarize yourself with Seoul's racing  behavior.

"I-I'm curious on what it's like. I just wanna see some action and experience a bit of excitement. Been bored these days. Plus, I want to see you race."

"Okay, then it's a date."

What just happened?  I. didn't. see. that. coming.

Does he like me? Wait. Taehyung, focus. This wasn't what I had in mind.

"A d-date?" Taehhung said, cheeks turned crimson.

"Um, only if it's okay with you.  Or, we can just go as friends."

What the hell  Taehyung you're in a serious mess right now and here you are blushing.

Oh, what the heck. I want this too.

"No, it's okay. It' s a date." Taehyung smiled.

And as he heard Taehyung's answer, Jungkook just can't help flash the biggest smile he has ever had.
